Bintulu
Taman Tumbina Bintulu
It's unique and the first of its kind in Sarawak, an integration of a botanical and zoological garden into a living garden of plants and animals! Taman Tumbina Bintulu offers the best single location in Bintulu for locals and visitors alike to catch a glimpse of the diversity of the flora and fauna of the largest state of Malaysia.
Strategically located on a hilly site overlooking the South
China Sea, this 57-hectare garden has been one of the main
attractions of the booming gas town since it started operations
in 1991. Over the years, Tumbina has captivated visitors
from far and near with its diverse collection of plants and
animals. Among the major attractions is the Butterfly World
where a variety of butterflies could be viewed in a specially
built enclosure. As Sarawak is blessed with vast quantities
of orchids, the garden's Orchid Collection, considered the largest of its kind in the northern region where both local
and hybrid species are found, is a place not to be missed!
Reptilian such as crocodiles, snakes and tortoises abound in
the garden's Reptile Complex where the largest collection of
the longest snakes exhibited in Sarawak was held. Another
major attraction here is the Walk-in Aviary. Presently the
biggest in Sarawak where the
majestic hornbill to the small
humming birds thrills visitors
with their melodious calls and
distinct songs.
