The Joy of Tawau Cultural Festival ...our culture is the joy of Malaysian people and a symbols of regional peace... Pesta Kebudayaan Tawau 2011 featured cultural variance of 26 ethnics in Sabah and organized by Majlis Perbandaran Tawau and Lembaga Kebudayaan Sabah. Like the LEPA LEPA festival in Semporna, Tawau Cultural Festival is now accepted as part of the Sabah Tourism calendar and in the process of becoming an annual event in Sabah. Tawau, being the cultural melting pot of Malaysia, is best location in Malaysia to show off the 1Malaysia concept.
All local people want to see
the uniqueness of this festival organized by
local government departments, NGOs and Tawau cultural
associations. Tawau Cultural Festival for the first time involves
participation from 2 foreign countries - Indonesia and Brunei.
(Philippines and Singapore were also invited). Tawau
Cultural Festival witness the parade 26 ethnic groups from Town Padang to
Tawau Municipal Square. There are cultural performances, artist presentations and ended
with fireworks and flame from the ships docked at port Tawau. Four roads and a roundabout here will be closed, starting from 5pm today
(Friday) until tomorrow (Saturday), for the Tawau Cultural Festival
involving Bimp-Eaga nations. The event involving 2,000 participants. |

Tawau came alive with Tawau Cultural Festival staged
on 14th to 15th January 2011.
20 communities showcased their culture in the Festival featuring telematches, lego competition, cultural exhibition, food camp.
The event capped by a
fireworks display. "The tremendous response and support received for the festival shows
that we in Sabah do not allows the difference in ethnicity, race,
religion or culture to hamper unity, harmony and relationship. This is a
recognition and an example of the 1Malaysia concept introduced by Prime
Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to help the country prosper in areas

On with the topic, kali ni aku mahu berkongsi
lagi kehangatan Festival Kebudayaan Tawau 2011 yang berlangsung pada 14-15
Januari anjuran Majlis Perbandaran Tawau. Satu festival yang berjaya pada
hemat aku. Sudah heboh ke serata dunia dengan bantuan alam siber dimana
dunia wujud tanpa sempadan. Tidak perlu passport ataupun pas lintas untuk ke
negara lain. Malam itu aku bersama-sama rakan TawauBloggers (Maya, Lisa, Agus, Don dan Jeannie) berada live di tempat kejadian. Turut bersamaku beberapa rakan kamceng sejak zaman sekolah. Turut bersamaku juga beberapa ahli keluarga. Turut bersama juga…. ehm senang cerita hampir kesemua warga Tawau turun memeriahkan ok! Kalau sudah namanya festival kebudayaan, sudah pasti kita akan lihat budaya. Pakaian dan kostum juga merupakan sebahagian budaya. Jujur aku katakan, terdapat beberapa pakaian etnik yang baru ku lihat pada malam tersebut. Itulah akibat jika dari kecil hanya terdedah dengan fesyen grunge, punk, hip hop. Kalau beruntung jadi baik pun, pakai baju Raihan seminggu sekali. Pakaian tradisi sendiri haram tak kenal. |

Penat tapi berbaloi-baloi! Biarpun sekali sekala berada
dihadapan pentas, tapi aku sangat gembira! Syabas dan tahniah kepada Majlis Perbandaran Tawau kerana berjaya menganjurkan Festival Kebudayaan Tawau yang julung kalinya diadakan di sini. Sangat happening dan meriah bila melihat kelancaran program yang telah diatur oleh pihak MPT........ Terima kasih kepada Presiden MPT Tawau dan para kakitangannya kerana memberi peluang kepada TawauBloggers merasai kemeriahan Festival Kebudayaan Tawau secara dekat. Biar tiada duit ku sumbangkan, tapi aku berusaha untuk menwar-warkan keistimewaan Tawau itu sendiri.. :D. Pengalaman berharga sebegini bagiku adalah sesuatu yang sukar dinilai dengan wang ringgit. Aku sangat berpuas hati dan sukar untuk aku katakan bagaimana untung orang awam sepertiku!

BIMP-EAGA Cultural Festival 2011 Present in this festival are popular local artists Stacy, Ebi, Theater, Def Gab C and others.
To be held at the Tawau participating
countries Brunei, Indonesia, the Philippines, our country
Malaysia. The year 2011 is a new chapter in history for Tawau Municipal Council (MPT) to host the large-scale Tawau Cultural Festival 2011 which bring cultures of the BIMP-EAGA together. BIMP - Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines. The festival took place in MPT yard on January 15, 2011. The festival involved various tribes of Tidung, Chinese, Murut, Penan, Lundayuh, Bajau, Bugis, India, Java, Toraja, Butun, Iban, Kokos, Sulug, Pakistan and Bisaya. Events of the festival include exhibition of culture and crafts, dance performances, parade by the tribes in traditional dress, performances of traditional music and song. Closing ceremony will be officiated Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Musa Aman with a fireworks display. The people were entertained by Alex Raja Lawak, Acid Def Gab C, Ebi, Stanley and others artists. This cultural event is an opportunity of all walks of life in Tawau to show the culture and arts of ethnic groups as well promote the tourism industry. Tawau is rich in fresh seafood, rich in flora and fauna, location of the highest tropical tree world, famous golf courses, cocoa etc. All there must be introduced to the visitors. The unique culture of 30 over ethnic groups in Tawau are tourist products in attracting foreign tourists to Tawau district.
The district's ethnic cultural diversity would be showcased in this cultural
festival.
Tawau is a melting pot where various cultures
meet. Besides the
Malays,
Chinese and Indians and indigenous groups like
Kadazan,
Murut,
Bajau, Suluk and
Tidung, there are also people of
Arab,
Pakistani,
Cocos, Timorese,
Tator, Banjarese,
Javanese and Bugis
descent in Tawau.
