Hill Top Specialist Hospital
A construction worker stumbled upon an old bomb, believed to be from the World War II era, while clearing an area at the Hill Top Specialist Hospital construction site in Tawau on 23 JUNE 2014 about 1.45pm
The workers were curious on discovering the object and tried to
scrape the surface but later realized that it was a bomb and
immediately called the police.
The police arrived to inspect the bomb and made preparation to
cordon off the area so that the bomb could be detonated safely. The
bomb was detonated by the police bomb unit at 4.45pm yesterday.
A fish pond is being built at the open space where the bome
found. This pond would turn into a recreation park catering to
patients receiving treatment at the specialist medical centre.
