McDonald's Tawau finally opened in the third town in Sabah (after Kota Kinabalu and Sandakan) to have an outlet.

It have been a long wait for the local. It's good to see how an empty land beside Jalan Apas turned to a brand new favorite fast food restaurant.

McDonalds's Breakfast and McDonald's lunch are not cheap above the normal price. The menu is comparable of those local foods and bringing a new choice for the consumers.

McDonald's Tawau was built on empty land and not on ready built premises. This is a 24 hours restaurant and have McDonald's Drive Thru.

The McDonald's Drive Thru is the main core business in Tawau.

McDonald's first made its way to Malaysia in December 1980 when McDonald's Corporation, USA gave GOLDEN ARCHES RESTAURANTS SDN BHD the license to operate McDonald's restaurants in Malaysia.

The first restaurant opened at Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur on 29 April 1982. To date, McDonald's Malaysia has more than 180 restaurants located nationwide and is currently expanding at about 10-15 restaurants annually. McDonald's has created many job opportunities in Malaysia. McDonald's Malaysia employs more than 7,000 local people with 120 support staff at its headquarters managing the day-to-day operations of the McDonald's business. There is also a regional office in Penang and Johor Bahru.
