Shadow theatre "Nang Yai" - In South Thailand there is a tradition called nang Talung (หนังตะลุง). Nang Yai puppets are normally made of cowhide and rattan. Performances are normally accompanied by a combination of songs and chants.

Nang drama has influenced modern Thai cinema, including filmmakers like Cherd Songsri and Payut Ngaokrachang.

Skilled craftsmen have not only transformed local raw materials into household objects, but have also created meticulous works of art for local rituals and religious ceremonies.

The natural environment and the charm of the Chiang Mai culture with its unique festivals attracts many visitors. Local craftsmen no longer produce things as practical items to serve their own needs. Today, the artifacts for sale are decorative souvenirs produced by a large handicrafts industry which has grown with tourist and export demand.

The soap are nicely craft into different types of flowers and coloured. Finished crafted flower soap were placed inside the handmade painted wooden box.

The smell of the aromatic soap stays with the flowers making them an ideal sweet smelling decoration  making it an ideal gift, or wedding favour. Each flower is presented in a decorative wooden box, either decorated with a silver engraving, or a wooden elephant design. The orchid design style is particularly popular, but particularly difficult to carve!

These beautiful hand carved soap flowers make lovely decorative items, they are not intended for use as soap. Each fan is uniquely crafted by a skilled artisan giving of a beautiful fragrance. The carvings are presented in their own display box (either hand painted and laquered or a mango wood box with a nickel emblem.

The soap carving measures 6cm across.
