Sematan Beach stretches as far as eyes can see.... "Lundu" and "Sematan". Two words conjure up lots of excitement when I was a young boy. Before Damai Beach was developed, Lundu and Sematan were
the only two places in Kuching where you could find accessible beaches. And
going to the beach was a rare treat indeed..... Sematan Beach is 20 km from Lundu Town. Driving time is around 20 mins, the road is very good. Sematan Beach is probably the longest beach in Sarawak. Many years back I tried walking along the beach for almost half a day, and still couldn't reach the end ! ........

| Beautiful beaches and vast countryside set
against the
backdrop of the picturesque Gunung Gading is perhaps one
of the best features of this quiet town. A sub-district of Lundu,
Sematan has a total area of 150km sq and Is located about
127km or about one and a half hours drive from the city centre.
Sematan faces the South China Sea and Is usually used as a
base by anglers to go sea fishing. Sematan Is also home to
the only silk farm In Malaysia and Is managed by Zuhrah Pelangi
Sdn Bhd. This farm rears silkworms and processed silk cocoons
for export to other countries. A visit to Sematan town gives
an Impression of a scenic and peaceful environment. It Is a

| CRAB FARM
Located at Kampung Trusan Jaya which Is about 30km from Lundu Town and 120km from Kuching. This Is a project between Sarawak Department of Agriculture and Muhandls Industrial Service Sdn Bhd. The crab species reared In the crab pen complex Is the mud crab or locally known as "ketam kalok" Plank walk for visitors has been constructed at the farm to allow easy movement. It Is also equipped with facilities such as rest area and electric lighting. Information board at the crab pen complex made it easier for the visitors to know more about the area and crab rearing. |

| SILK FARM Located about 110km from Kuching City. The farm is managed by Zuhrah Pelangi Sdn Bhd.
