| The new Spring
shopping mall, different, exciting and vibrant and based on the
design of shopping malls popular in Australia and New Zealand, took pride
of place on a 12-acre site in Kuching City of Sarawak. This retail mall marks the Kuching city’s coming of age. Kuching, with a population of 600,000 but a retail environment far behind that of similar-sized cities other part of Malaysia. This new Spring brings a bounce into the City of Cats. Situated along a main thoroughfare in a high profile neighborhood of South Kuching, the two-storey mall will have 350,000sq ft of space and 1,500 car-parking bays, with entrances/exits from all four directions. The RM150 million project was designed by a New Zealand-based architectural firm, Warren & Mahoney, which has a strong influence on retail outlet concepts and the built environment in that country. The Spring give Sarawakians as well as visitors to the Sarawak a rewarding shopping experience, with a wide range of retail choice. This would also make the city “more Perbena Emas, builder of The Spring, is a construction company incorporated in 1977 and the shopping mall is its maiden venture into property development, on a site it purchased 12 years ago. You must have you parking validate before going out the car park else “gate” wouldn't be opened and your car will be stucked at the exit After VALIDATING your ticket upon leaving, be sure to leave within 15 minutes else “gate” too will not open for you.. |

Bhd’s second outlet in Kuching, The Spring was declared open by Sarawak
Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud in January 2008 The outlet, Parkson’s largest in East Malaysia, boasts a floor space of 102,500 square feet over three floors and is the anchor tenant of The Spring. Total investment for the outlet amounted to RM12-15mil, with more than 50% supported by suppliers. The new outlet housed a beauty hall offering international brands, a floor dedicated to men’s and women’s fashions, and a floor for children’s apparel and home accessories. Shoppers have a choice of almost 300 brands of merchandise, many of which are being featured for the first time in Kuching,

| Boulevard Mall, located at Mile 4 Kuching-Serian Road
(not far from Regional Bus Terminal). Opened in late December 2007. It
offers a Boulevard Hypermarket and Department Store plus a variety of
shopping outlets and fast foods such as Sushi King and Kenny Rogers
Roasters. The Spring [http://www.thespring.com.my], located at Jalan
Simpang Tiga (between the city centre and airport). Opened to the public
in January 2008, The Spring is Kuching's largest and 1st true lifestyle
shopping mall. Shiny and new, it offers many international brands like
Esprit, Charles & Keith, Starbucks, Quiksilver etc. spread over two
stories and a basement. It also has a Parkson Department Store and a
supermarket offering many imported goods. Sarawak Plaza, Jln. Tunku Abdul
Rahman (next to Holiday Inn). One of Kuching's older malls. Tun Jugah, Jln.
Tunku Abdul Rahman (opposite Sarawak Plaza). Stands majestically twelve
storey tall at the commercial and financial hub of Kuching City. It
comprises of three levels of retail stores, nine levels of office space,
and two levels of basement car park. Wisma Saberkas, located at the
junction of Jln. Tun Abang Haji Openg and Jln. Rock, is a round tower on
the outskirts (approximately 15 minutes from the Waterfront) that offers a
feast of hi-tech products based around mobile telephones and computers.
Crowne Plaza - Parkson Grand, Jln. Tunku Abdul Rahman (opposite Sarawak
Plaza). Standard Parkson fare, with Times Bookstore, shoe shops, jeweler
and the likes. Also Giant Supermarket under the same roof.
Crown Square, Towards Pending, opposite Hock Lee Centre. A small but
newly refurbished shopping mall. Its tenanted by Mr. Ho's Fine Foods &
Restaurant as well as a Japanese, Indonesian and Chinese restaurant - on
top of several standard fashion outlets. Also, the biggest baby and kids
outlet in Kuching, Mummycare and Kiddycare are located on the 2nd and 3rd
floor with a total area of 6000sq ft and 5000 sq ft. Hock Lee Centre, Jln.
Abang Abdul Rahim. The place to find and buy cheap clothes and fashion
accessories for the young females. There are electronics and a supermarket
in the basement and Home & Living on the ground and 1st floor. Wisma Satok,
off Jln Satok, just a pedestrian bridge away from the location of the
Sunday Market. One of the older malls in Kuching. Cheap items can be found
here. There's a departmental store and supermarket. A high concentration
of mediocre cyber cafe is at the fourth floor. Wisma Hopoh, Jalan P.
Ramlee, near Syaria Court. Just a walk away from Sarawak Museum. A small
and old shoping centre yet still frequented by shoppers. |
