Tawau Water Front
The setting up of modern fish landing facilities in Tawau Water Front is among
the 13 key projects under Sabah Development Corridor (SDC). Sabah Development
Corridor (SDC) encompasses entire Sabah, including the interior regions and
the burgeoning west coast.
One of the most popular hang out places in Tawau
is
the Water Front. Tawau Water Front is beside a double
lane road. There are a few chairs and a children recreation
park where local families spent thier weekend afternoon. The evenings at Water
Front bring beautiful sunsets framed against a timeless horizon. On the West of Water Front is a fishing port where fishing vessels with the daily catches coming in fresh every day. Here you find boats for hire. Tawau waterfront may not be as glamorous as Kuching waterfront but you can witness the lives of local fishermen in their sampans and participate in the loading and unloading of goods from neighboring islands onto sampans. Tawau is one of the best places in Malaysia to eat seafood. Many West Malaysian come to this town just for the seafood. To the distance south is Pulau Sebatik (Sebatik Island) shared by 2 countries Malaysia and Indonesia. The island was the site of heavy fighting between Malaysian and Indonesian troops during konfrontasi in 1963. |
