A day of discovery and excitement in Sunway Lagoon

We had a whole day in Sunway Lagoon where we will visited 1) Sunway University 2) Sunway Lagoon Theme Park (Wet & Dry Theme Park) and 3) Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall.

We started with the college - the Sunway University College. Before we went to the water of Sunway Lagoon, we first pay a visit to the near by Sunway University College.

How to get there :

It was easy to get a taxi to Sunway from Citus Hotel where we stay. Several taxi always parked ready at standby for passemger just beside the hotel.

Taxi fare to Sunway University is Rm35.00. From the University to Sunway Lagoon is just a few kelimeters away and the fare is Rm5.00.

On return trip in order to save cost we took the railway back, but from Sunway to the nearest rail station is a distance away at it was late at night. the taxi driver charged us Rm10.00 from Sunway Pyramid to the nearest KTM station.

Without own vehicle, the alternative convenient way to go to Sunway is by taxi. The hotel staff called this taxi for us. The driver Mr. Veloo speaks English.

The taxi driver dropped us in front Sunway Lagoon Hotel and pointed to the an entrance on the right of the hotel building. The entrance is where we enter the Sunway Lagoon's Water of Africa.

We had a whole day to explore the wonders of Sunway Lagoon Water Theme Park's adventure and excitement at the Waters of Africa, Wild West & World of Adventure.

Malaysia's Premier Theme Park of Water Rides and slides galore

This man-made attraction has won two major tourism awards in 2007

1) the first Asian Attraction Awards for Most Popular Attraction (Medium-sized) in Asia at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Asian Expo at Siam Paragon, Bangkok, Thailand,

2) Malaysia's Best Man-Made Tourist Attraction Award by the Ministry of Tourism.

A theme park with stomach-churning thrill like giant water slides, twin speed slides, double twister wave pool and many more.

Spanning over 80 acres, Sunway Lagoon draws fun seekers with its reputation as a theme lands each boasting their own exciting attractions. There are Adventure Park, Wild Wild West, Water Park, Surf Beach and Elephant Walk. A place where we took home more than just memories.

When you go, remember to bring bathing suit and towel.

The entrance fee to Sunway Lagoon is a total of Rm165.00 for my family of 4.

Sunway Lagoon - surrounded by a lush tropical jungle.

Sunway Lagoon is a former tin-mine that has been transformed into a major water theme-park.

It attracts crowds of visitors because of its comprehensive range of waterspouts, theme rides, amusements, restaurants and recreational facilities.

Once inside we feed as if we were in an Pacific island. (Photo below). A man made beach welcomed us. This Sunway Surf Beach has a rolling surf pool sandy beach made out of over 6,000 tones of sand.

The giant water slide called the African Pythons where you will spin around in loops on a water slide before coming out of the gigantic tube.

Sunway Lagoon Hotel

Alongside with the water resort and the shopping mall made Sunway Lagoon Hotel by far the best in Malaysia. This hotel has all the rooms offer spectacular views of the surrounding city.

Surf Beach (above picture)

Nowhere else one can find a man made beach for surfing right next to a shopping mall.

Sure Beach was recently transformed with the placement of 6000 tons of sand, palm trees and huts in the area, creating a tropical beach oasis in the middle of the city. City dwellers no longer need to travel tormenting long distances to have a fulfilling seaside experience.

This newly opened Sunway Surf Beach is one of the world's most unique entertainment venues and has been an irresistible draw to some of the world's most prestigious events like Quiksilver Revolution Tour 06, X Games Asia 2006, promotional concerts by world-renowned artists like Wang Lee Hom, Westlife, FIR, SHE and more ...

The Sunway Lagoon boasts the largest surf pool in the world, spanning 5 acres and generating 8-foot high waves that crash onto Malaysia's longest man-made beach within a city.

Adjacent to the water theme park is a huge shopping and leisure complex called 'The Pyramid', (background above picture) which houses the hi-tech 48-lane bowling alley, Malaysia's first themed open indoor ice-skating rink, the fashionable Tang's departmental store, and the ten comfortable and professionally managed cineplexes, adding to the limitless range of activities at the Sunway Lagoon. Sunway Pyramid is considered the best Thematic Mall in Malaysia.

Consists of three different worlds, dry world and wet world.

1) Waters of Africa is the ultimate water park with an African wilderness theme, where you can challenge your family and friends in the 6-laned Congo Challenge.

2) Wild, Wild West is set in the old frontier days with cowboys and Indians, where rides such as Niagara Falls Flame Ride and The Tomahawk are the favorites.

3) World of Adventure, containing the world's largest Suspension Bridge, which offers spectacular views of the Lagoon.

4) SUNWAY WILDLIFE INTERACTIVE ZOO

5) Sunway Xtreme Park

A taste of combat with a game of paintball, show off their riding skills on a power-packed All Terrain Vehicles (ATV), enjoy the speed and sharp manoeuvers of jet boat rides or simply indulge in the serenity of the lake on a kayak.

1) Waters of Africa

Waters of Africa has 12 rides and attractions.

The newly refurbished attraction called Sunway Surf Beach has a rolling surf pool sandy beach made out of over 6,000 tones of sand. On top of that, there are more than 146 palm trees and Balinese huts. You will be able to build sand castles, relax under the palm trees or have a game of beach volleyball with your friends and family members. The surf pool is capable of producing 8 feet tall surf waves for your surfing pleasure.

We spend most of our time in this water part of the park - Waters of Africa.

-Cameroon Climb. The first-in-the world double tube water ride that steeply drops two riders at one time from as high as 15 metres, and shoots them up again to a height of eight metres.

-Slow River-cruise around the park on tubes.

-Giant Waterslides-long & winding, open & closed water slides speed down to the splashpool.
-Children Pool-wet rides, fun slides, water cannons, animal floats, and a Big-O Pirate Ship for the kiddies.

-Wave Pool-ride big ocean waves just like being at sea.
-Giant Waterfall-tube under the soothing splash of water from 80 feet above.
-Adult Activity Pool-create your own excitement on lily pads, monkey ropes and floating logs.

2) Wild Wild West

There are 10 rides and attractions at this location. Named after the American wild wild west, see the Apache Indians as you stroll along this town. Get wet as you ride the Niagara Falls Flume Ride. This ride will take you up to a dark tunnel before splashing down into the water. Sit down and relax as you swirl around the waters at the Grand Canyon River Rapids.

Remember to keep all your belongings in a water tight plastics if you intend to bring them along with you. Otherwise, keep them at the many locks that are available at the park.

Within the 32-hectare park are water-based attractions like giant waterslides, twin speed slides, double twister, toboggan, slow river, waterfall garden and wave pool.

At Fort Lagoon Wild you can take a white-knuckled ride on the Grand Canyon River Rapids, Buffalo Bill Coaster and the Colorado Splash.

There are also dry adventure activities like the Flying Carpet and the Galleon. Parents will appreciate the Pyramid shopping complex and the option to stay at the neighboring Sunway Lagoon Resort.

Here in Water of Africa we spend an enjoyable afternoon with the cool fresh water in an Africa environment setting.

3) The World of Adventure

This adventure include walking on the 428m suspension bridge that enables you to see the entire park. Enjoy The Lost City of Gold ride where you will be taken through tunnels and tarantulas during the roller-coaster ride. The Tiger Adventure will take you to an educational experience with the Bengal and Siberian tigers. The Pirates Revenge is a rotating pirate ship that swivels 24m above the ground.

The 428 m long Sunway Lagoon Theme Park suspension bridge offers you a fantastic view of the park
the suspension bridge is the longest suspension bridge for pedestrians in the world. It is 428 meters. But it was closed for maintenance during our visit.

we are not allowed to bring outside food and drink into the waterpark, the guide at the entrance check every one bag upon entering.

we had no choice but to buy food from the stalls available inside the waterpark. There is not much foods to choose from and I plan to have good food later in the Pyramid. But by 4:50pm while in way Zulu Walk I was too hungry and bought a CORN IN CUP for Rm 4.20 (including 5% GOVT TAX. Why government even tax on a cup of corn for tea break ?). A burger is Rm6.00 each. A cup of Ice Milo is Rm 4.70

We did not visit Sunway Wildlife Interactive Zoo because we can easily see wild animal back in Sabah. This Sunway Wildlife Interactive Zoo is the latest attraction in Sunway Lagoon Theme Park featuring exotic, small and friendly animals from birds, reptiles to mammals.

Wild Wild West is the dry park with excitement and funs. Adding more fun to our trip is Yin - the young actor of our trip.

Here in Sunway Pyramid, I bought a batter charger with 2 AA battery for my Canon digital camera at Rm69.99.

Is already evening and I have difficulty to spot a food area. Shirley has batter 6 sense she found the arena food court within ground floor of jaya jusco in sunway pyramid's new wing. She also selected a testy Chicken Rice Clay Pot and recommended me to try which I did. Rm 4.20 (included GOVT. TAX 5% why government tax us for dinner foods ?)
