Taxi from Genting to KL Rm65.00

Because of the high altitude, the spiraling ride by can down to the city was rather uncomfortable to people who are susceptible to motion sickness.  Shirley vomited immediately at the road side as soon as the taxi reached Kuala Lumpur.

If not because of many luggage to carry, we would have take the slower and more comfortable way down : the SkyWay/Bus rout.

Tonight we will stay in Compact Hotel in Johore Bahru. Its a 3 stars hotel. We checked in we learned that it name has changed to J.A RESIDENCE HOTEL under a new management of Mesmerize View Sdn. Bhd. www.javh.com.my

J.A RESIDENCE HOTEL (Compact hotel) is strategically located at the heart of Johor city with City square, the largest shopping centre within a 5 min walking distance. In the evening a food street can be located at the back lane serving local delicacy such as barbecue seafood and local fare. A very good option for supper after shopping from City Square. Transportation is convenient to other parts of the city. Holiday Plaza ($6RM by cab) is about 10 minutes drive from the hotel. Good for clothing apparels, personal grooming and a little shopping for CDs and movies. For a good meal with more variety of local fare, you can proceed to Taman sentosa for local fare at a very affordable pricing. Take note to ask for pricing before committing on the food.

New Hongkong restaurant serves quality dim sum in clean, more up market like restaurant settings

Guys who want to stay there can just go to the night food market just round the corner of the hotel. It will operate from 4pm to 3am. Food there are cheap and nice. As for shopping, City Square is just 10minutes walk away.

Check out Compact Hotel breakfast buffet every morning as its pretty affordable only at 8 ringgit for adults. Though the variety is small, but its quite worth the money.

City Square has lots of shops and do check the reject shop which has plenty of clothes at affordable prices for the shopaholics. Sightseeing trip at the Sultan Abu Bakar and Istana garden are worth a visit too.

Johor Bahru is the southern tip of Malaysia. Hawker food such as Bak-Kut-Teh, Kuih-Toew-Kiah, Or-Chien, Chwee-Kueh, Chai-Tow-Kueh are my favourites, all available at the back street next to Compact Hotel.

The location is near to the popular shopping centre such as City Square, Komtar and Kotaraya. All of these shopping centres are within walking distance from the hotel.

Hotel is located no more than 4-5 minutes walk from the border. Excellent location if crossing the causeway from Singapore on foot with heavy backpacks. Also close (i.e. across the road) from major shopping centre, night food markets and Hawk Rental Car.

Visited nearby shopping complex. Lots of eateries & fashion outlets.

The foods and shopping places around the hotel have allot of variety to choose from.
