Manifestation of Happiness
A shower of flowers fell from a hovering helicopter while hundreds of balloons floated into the air with 100,000 ethnic Indian Hindus watched during the opening ceremony on 29 January 2006 6.15pm. Works Minister S. Samy Vellu, Malaysia's top Indian politician, conducted the official unveiling of the statue.

World Tallest Lord Murugan statue
"This is the tallest statue of a Hindu deity in Malaysia," said temple Chairman R. Nadarajah. "It is also the tallest Lord Murugan statue in the world. We are trying to get it reported in the Guinness Book of World Records."

The statue is 42.7meters.

(US$670,000; Euro500,000) golden statue entered Malaysian Book of Records as the tallest statue of a Hindu deity in Malaysia.

Fifteen sculptors from India and 15 other general workers took more than three years to build.

Batu Caves consists of three main caves and several smaller ones. Temple Cave or Cathedral Cave is the best known and biggest one. The ceiling is 100 meters above ground and this huge chamber is lit by daylight from several holes in the ceiling. Temple Cave features a Shrine to Lord Subramaniam, a Hindu deity which is visited by many devotees throughout the year.
