The Dewan Undangan Negeri (State Legislative Assembly) is the
legislature of Malaysian states.
This 9-storey high
building will be the venue for future Sarawak's state legislative assembly
sittings.
The new DUN building height reaching 114 meters. Area
size is to be 47,747 square meter.
The new DUN Sarawak building is located at the no.1 eyes catching site, which is
just right opposite the Riverfront walkway near the heart of Kuching city. With
the size of the building, you can hardly miss it.
The distinctive "payung"
roof of the new DUN complex is an icon for Sarawak.
The architecture of the complex
combines unique elements of Sarawak's heritage with state-of-the-art intelligent
building automation systems, multimedia communication facilities, and
environmentally-friendly features.
The complex covered 172
acre development at Pangkalan Sapi on the banks of Sarawak River, Petra Jaya,
Kuching.
The contract for the design,
construction and completion of the new DUN complex is valued at RM296.5 million
and was awarded by the Sarawak Government to PPES Works (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd and
Naim Cendara Sdn Bhd on 28th June, 2005.
Construction is targeted for
completion in September 2007.
The project is a joint-venture
of Sarawak's leading construction companies - PPES Works (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd and
Naim Cendera Sdn Bhd.
PPES Works (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd is
51% owned by Main Board listed entity, Cahya Mata Sarawk Berhad, and 49% held by
state-owned SEDC Sarawak. Naim Cendera Sdn Bhd is a wholly-owned
subsidiary of Main Board listed entity Naim Cendera Holdings Berhad.
