Uniform Anti-Litter By-law for Tawau
08 July, 2005

Tawau: The Uniform Anti-Litter By-law 2005, a sub-section of Section 50A under the Ministry of Local Government and Housing, was presented to the Tawau Municipal Council for adoption on Wednesday.

This new by-law repeals those of 11 municipal and district councils in Sandakan, Tawau, Kudat, Ranau, Keningau, Lahad Datu, Tenom, Penampang, Sipitang, Tambunan and Papar.

Under the uniform anti-litter by-law, offenders risk being fined between RM500 and RM5,000, and RM200 a day for subsequent offences.

The provisions also empower authorised Council officers or police officers to arrest without warrant any person found to have flouted the law.
