Multi-purpose plan for the old Tawau airport
Tawau: The old Tawau airport perimeter, at Jalan Utara, will be divided into several zones for multi-purpose development.
This proposal, unanimously accepted during the Tawau Municipal Council's full board meeting on Thursday, will involve nine divisions, each with its own functions and utilisation.
These include a
1) Government administrative centre (30 acres)
2) Dataran Pusatjaya (8 acres)
3) a trade and international conference centre (8 acres)
4) housing estates (40 acres)
5) government reserve (20 acres)
6) estate for government quarters (35 acres).
7) Taman Muhibbah (55 acres) for recreational activities
8) a Hindu temple will be maintained.
9) some 60 acres would be developed for a hotel, business district and financial institutions.
The proposal was presented by TMC president Haji Salsidu Haji Ibrahim, who chaired the meeting.
