真っ青なセレベス海に浮かぶ孤島、それがロッシュリーフ。一周歩いて5分もかからない”こじんまり”したこのリーフは、もともと地元オーナーの趣味で別荘として建てられた人工島。アットホームで素朴なプチリゾート。日頃のストレスや忙しない日常を忘れ、リセットするのに最適。『シパダンの奥座敷』とも呼ばれています。

Man-made Island
Roach Reefs Resort, an upscale resort situated on a private, man-made island offers more privacy than any other resort in the area.

Roach Reefs Resort is just an hour away by speed boat from Yacht Club. Managed by Japanese Mr. Kenichi Obata, the resort has 11 twin-sharing chalets and a water cottage.

The waters surrounding the resort is off limits for fishing. For those interested in fishing can go by speed boat to a popular spot about two kilometers away.

Roach Reefs Resort offers daily three boat dives and two shore dives, all under the watchful eyes and guidance of master divers and dive instructors.

The Only Private Reef in Sabah
Due to the unique status of being the only private reef in Sabah no large crowds will ever be encountered while staying in the resort. Opened in 1995 the island is small, app.. 200m x 100m, and accommodates a maximum of 40 guests. Fishing is strictly prohibited (just like at Sipadan) and various species of fish can be observed close up.

There are 10 dive sites at Roach Reef Resort including 2 wrecks - turtles, schooling barracudas & travel leys, and with the exception of Sipadan it is the only reef throughout the area with resident white tip reef sharks and nurse sharks that can be found hiding under table corals. Manta rays and whale sharks are often seen in the vicinity and there a plenty of small critters like Spanish dancer, ghost pipe fish, crab eye goby, mantis shrimp, etc. Game fishing for mackerel, yellow fin tuna, dorado and marlin can be arranged on request. The atmosphere at Roach Reefs Resort is very special, as are accommodation and food.

How To Get To Tawau

From Kota Kinabalu City, Tawau is accessible by road via the East-West and East Coast Highways. The journey should take about 8 hours. For a speedier alternative, the flight from Kota Kinabalu to Tawau takes only 45 minutes.

From Kuala Lumpur, tourists can hop on AirAsia flights which flies to Tawau twice a day. The familiariasation trip to Tawau was organized by AirAsia and Sabah Tourism.
