Sabah Sunset is well known. Even in Tawau Town you
can catch a gream view of Sabah sunset at Tawau Waterfront.
The water front is beside the main road of Jalan Persisiran. Here is one of the
Three-Best spots to catch this magical moment of setting golden sun.
At the Waterfront is also a recreation park for children and a benches for
senior citizens. During week ends and holidays this is a popular hangout place
for locals who came from the outskirts such as Balung, Merotai, Kalabakan and
Kunak.
At the west portion of the waterfront is a fishing port where local fishing
vessels come and go with their daily catch.

Pink and white Tabebuia flowers are blooming on trees along the Tawau
Waterfront, painting colourful seaside scenes for the appreciation of those who
pass by.
It is a yearly occurrence, almost like the cherry blossom season in Japan.
These flowers are actually called ‘tabebuia’ or ‘pink tecoma’. Tabebuia is a
genus of flowering plant in the family of Bignoniaceae that blooms during hot
and dry days.
The genus of Tabebuia produces flowers with a tissue-like texture in colours
ranging from pure white to shades of pink. They do not have any scent.
The flowers require a distinct dry season to bloom. When the hot and dry season
arrives in Borneo in the months of April to June, it will induce the trees to
bloom, but not all at the same time. The flowers only last about a week.
It's a beautiful sight to watch because of its profuse flowering and when the
flowers float down by the sea breeze, they cover the ground below like a dense
soft pale pink (or white) carpet.
Tabebuia can be found planted along the roadside in towns and cities of Borneo.
Tabebuia trees are planted in parks, in residential areas and road sides. Their
annual flowering add colour to our living environment.

1- A roll of beautiful trees in Tawau is now dead
2- Another roll of green trees is now half dead
3- A roll of bushy shade-trees were gone for car park extension
4- A junk car is still at the exact location after 10 years occupying precious
parking space.
5- But blue sea and white clouds retain their colours.

Evening is a good time to spent along the waterfront. here you can watch local
people get on the boats to return to Pulau Sebatik.
Across the bay, Pulau Sebatik is visible from the waterfront. The island is part
Malaysia and part Indonesia.
SAFMA (Sabah Fisheries Marketing Authority) and marketplace is situated near the
waterfront.
The sunset may not as furious as in KK but it has its own romantic feel of
color.
