International College of Advanced Technology Sarawak  

ICATS stands for International College of Advanced Technology Sarawak. It is located at Tabuan Jaya Kuching. It was formely known as PPKS (Pusat Pembangunan Kemahiran Sarawak). It has expanded it wings to Miri and is collaborating with UNIMAS, Institut Teknologi Bandung, UTM and UiTM to offer engineering and science courses to form 5 school leavers. Under its expansion plan, it aims at upgrading the teaching and learning facilities. At present, ICATS has a few new buildings and labs (as shown in the photos above). And i am one happy staff working in this beautiful working environment. Not many people know that this college has one of the best engineering facilities in the region and the graduates are recognised by the industries.

International College of Advanced Technology Sarawak (ICATS) is  certified by the Malaysia n Accreditation Board (LAN) and EdExcel of United Kingdom as well as Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Skills Development Department of Malaysia (JPK). In addition, the teaching faculty comprises qualified, experienced and dedicated personnel supplemented by well- equipped facilities and resources at affordable cost. Located in Kuching City, it is within easy access to a wide range of support facilities like accommodation, shopping, entertainment and sporting venues for students in a city that is very conducive to learning.

From its collaboration with international and local partners, ICATS offers wide range of skills and academic courses from the certificate to diploma level in engineering, electronic, information technology, nursing and environmental tourism. All its technical and skills courses are conducted in English, which makes graduates fluent with the language and be able to communicate better with potential clients from overseas and also to seek employment outside the country. Most of the courses entry requirements are Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) and for those who have not attained the minimal passes in English, the college offers intensive English programme and also MUET or Malaysia University English Test coaching to equip

students with the skills to master the language. Most of the courses also incorporates entrepreneurship subject in the academic programmes, which will expose students to the future application of their studies.  

ICATS is recognised as the technical training provider for Sarawak and currently is the only authorised training provider in Sarawak for Small Medium Industries Development Corporation (SMIDEC). While majority of the students come from within the country, it also caters to international students too and this in turn exposes them to the traditions and cultures of the nation and Sarawak.
