IACT College started as Institute Advertising Communication Training (IACT), a Joint Education Committee of the Malaysian Advertisers' Association (MAA) and the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents, Malaysia (4As) in the early 1970s and progressed to a full-fledged education institute in 1993.
With over 30
years of experience in education and training, IACT is widely regarded as a
specialist college in advertising and marketing communications.
IACT is therefore unique as it is an entity borne out of the collective attempts
of these professional associations to formulate an effective system of education
and training for the industry members and new entrants into the industry.

In 1970, the two largest advertising associations in Malaysia came together to form what has become Malaysias premier college specializing in creative communication.
IACT College is a dedicated, talent prep-school for the creative communication industry, with 96% of its graduates employed in the industry within six months of graduation.

marketing communications industry.
Academic Strengths
Founded and endorsed by the advertising and marketing communications
industry, IACT receives strong support from the industry. This enables IACT to
tap experienced professionals from the industry to form the core of its teaching
faculty. This close link with the industry enables lACT's students to receive
vital hands-on training, especially during the compulsory three-month internship
training in leading advertising agencies, media, public relations consultancies
or media houses and marketing organizations. From day one of their classes,
students are exposed to industry related work and this continues throughout
their education at IACT, IACT has also launched its own in-house student agency
CREACTIVE, to expose students to hands-on experience in dealing with real
clients.
In classes, students are taught and groomed by industry professionals, who are
also constantly benchmarking the course syllabus to ensure that it is
significant to the relevant industry's requirements.
In addition, students benefit from the industry's professionals who not only
teach but also advise on lACT's course curriculum to ensure that it is
up-to-date and meets the industry's requirements.

Part-time Professional Development Programmes
The Advertising and Communication Industry is growing at a fast pace in
tandem with Malaysia's strong GDP growth. Advancement in the industry requires
employees to be retrained or re-skilled; traditional advertising and
communication areas now require ICT knowledge and industry relevant courses to
keep up with the times. lACT's professional development courses are designed to
meet the needs of the industry, Whether it is to upgrade oneself or learn a new
subject, IACT has lined up an impressive array of courses that will enhance
one's knowledge and skills to help stay ahead of competition.
IACT offers four types of training, namely:
Professional Development Courses (In the area of Advertising/Marketing
Communications) (Weekdays, in the evenings, 3 - 5 months)
Short Workshops covering specific topics such as Photography for Amateurs I &
II, Brand Communication and Beyond Customer Service (Weekdays, in the evenings,
10 hours)
Specialized Seminars/Workshops conducted at leading hotels in the areas of
Strategic Brand Communication, Integrated Marketing Communication, Multi-Level
Direct Marketing and Effective Branding
In-house training in specific areas of Advertising and Communication
IACT is a Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Bhd (PSMB) Class A accredited training centre and as such, companies sponsoring participants for training can claim training grants under SBL, SBL-Khas, Prolus and Perlo schemes.

The Student Welfare Department oversees visa applications for foreign
students, student accommodation and general student welfare.
The IACT Student Council meanwhile, arranges social activities for students.
This is a student body which represents the students and their interests. Under
the guidance of two lecturer advisors, the student council consists of several
different sections: PR & Event Management, Marketing, Administration, Sports,
Creative and Community. It is actively involved in various activities from
charity drives for the homes for the less fortunate to sports competitions like
inter and infra college sports and games as well as prom night.
The IACT Alumni is a voluntary support group consisting of committed former
students who have since graduated from IACT. It is set up to establish the

CREACTIVE - (First Student Advertising
Agency in Malaysia)
CREACTIVE is the first agency of its kind in the country CREACTIVE is
akin to full-fledged advertising agencies and like any advertising agency.
CREACTIVE offers a wide range of services to help companies build their market
share; from advertising and public relations to sales promotion and multimedia
designing.
CAPA
The Communications, Advertising and Press Association (CAPA) is lACT's
voice to its various publics. Whether to students, parents, shareholders, or
industry professionals, CAPA is primary role is to articulate the oodles of
activities and happenings in and around the college. And all this is done
through its swanky publication, '15: A.M.'.

dot. is a club where its practical skills are close or at par with that
of the industry and to be elective to the community. Their mission is to provide
an avenue and platform for video enthusiasts to learn, improve and share skills
and to be the professionals in videography and to be able to share views and
advice and to also to be an example to others.

International Advertising Association (IAA), New York, a worldwide organization
that represents the common interest of advertisers, agencies and the media.

Awards
The depth of knowledge and practical training received at IACT is also evident
by the numerous academic achievements of its students locally and
internationally. Over the years, IACT students have received a range of awards
in local and international industry- student competitions such as the Kancil
Awards, AdWave, Adrenaline, InterAd, IAA New York, Crowbar Awards (Singapore)
and L'Oreal BrandStorm Awards, among others.
