Sabah Medical Centre

The Sabah Medical Centre (SMC) is fully owned by the Sabah government's takeover on November 3, 2009.

SMC has

1) 400 beds
2) 13 intensive care units
3) four operation theatres

QEH has 650 beds,

Likas Cancer Centre has 200 beds

Sabah Medical Centre (SMC) was opened in 1986 as a private hospital and took over by government in 2009.

One of the most advanced hospitals in East Malaysia.

SMC's specialist team of highly trained doctors provide you with medical attention using the latest state-of-the-art medical equipment and operating theatres of the most advanced technology, including Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Tomography, Ultrasound Scanning, Bone Densitometry and Mammography.

SMC works with National Heart Institute in Kuala Lumpur.

SMC is the only hospital in Sabah able to perform Open Heart Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery. SMC provides the only Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Oncology facility in Sabah.
