Melaka-Manipal Medical College

Melaka Manipal Medical College - A private medical college offering twinning MBBS degree (Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery) programme for medical undergraduates. It is the only college to offer a twinning medical degree programme between Malaysia and India.

Students undergo 2.5 years of basic sciences and introductory clinical training in the Manipal Campus in Karnataka state of India and later another 2.5 years follow-up with further medical education and clinical training at the Melaka Campus in Malaysia.

It is a constituent college of the prestigious Manipal University (formerly known as Manipal Academy of Higher Education or MAHE), the first and largest private university in India till date. Its medical colleges consistently rank in the top 10 in India.

Melaka Manipal Medical College (MMMC) started in September 1997.

Malaysia has a long history of sending doctors be trained in India. Manipal University has trained more than 2000 Malaysian doctors in its 50 over year history making it the single largest private sector contribution to professional medical manpower.

The College is a joint venture between JVMC Corporation Sdn Bhd and Manipal University.

JVMC Corporation provide facilities, infrastructure and management needed for the running of the college.

Manipal University provide administrative, syllabus and teaching support for the programme in both Manipal and Melaka.

Melaka campus of Melaka-Manipal Medical College is currently recognized by the Malaysian Medical Council and is listed in IMED.

Graduates of the College who have undertaken whole course of study in Malaysia will be accepted by the Australian Medical Council as eligible candidates on the basis of the listing in IMED and recognition by the Malaysian Medical Council.
