Swinburne University Sarawak
Campus Pro Vice-Chancellor and chief executive Professor Helmut Lueckenhausen.
Swinburne University of Technology’s School of Business will establish relations with local businesses to provide valuable feedback in its courses and help strengthen the contents of the courses, said
Swinburne is well-known in Australia as a university with excellent relations
with business.
Melbourne, no new courses can be taught without the consent of the Business
Advisory Board
The Business School is currently the largest school in the university in Kuching with about
1,000 students, and this number will grow faster given that the new Kuching Swinburne
Campus will be ready by end of 2008
The most popular courses remain accounting and marketing.
The Schools also offers study majors in International Business and Human
Resource Management. Double majors are also possible.
The School also plans to expand its postgraduate offerings by introducing a new
Masters of Management in 2008, in addition to Masters and PhD by
research.
Masters of Management would be an alternative to the many MBA currently being
offered in Malaysia. If taken on a fulltime basis, the Masters of Management can
be completed within a year.
The university has recently appointed Sarawak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI)
president Datuk Abang Abdul Karim Tun Openg as Swinburne University of
Technology’s School of Business Advisory Committee (SBAC) chairman.
Another key area that SCCI will promote with Swinburne is The Industry Based
Learning (IBL). Under the IBL, senior students undertaking the Bachelor of
Business in Swinburne will work with SCCI member companies to gain real world
experience.
