The establishment of the faculty is based on Ninth Malaysia Plan, which gives priority to the conservation and preservation of Malaysian precious arts and heritage and  aim to make Malaysia an international art centre.

Universiti Malaysia Kelantan was established on 14 June 2006 at the onset of the Ninth Malaysia Plan which stresses on the development of human capital with first-class minds. The specific objective is to explore, develop and expand knowledge in the areas of entrepreneurship, agro¬business, heritage, creative technology and natural resource sciences through high quality teaching, learning and research.

Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) is of Government's  Public Institution of Higher Education situated on the North Eastern state of Kelantan. The Kelantan state is well known for its rich tradition and cultural heritage making it as one of the tourist destinations in Malaysia.


UMK offering disciplines in science and social sciences with entrepreneurship cutting across disciplines which is reflected in the motto of UMK : "Entrepreneurship is our thrust".


With its vision to champion human capital development with entrepreneurial qualities for global prosperity, entrepreneurship education at UMK forms the unique feature of UMK.

UMK create a new generation of human capital with a set of desired mindset, values and qualities where creative and innovative approaches hinge on transformational leadership to value add the governance system, societal networking for national and regional development, professional development and wealth creation.


Besides entrepreneurial attributes, enterprising graduates are capable of developing proficiencies not only in English but also in a foreign language such as Arabic, Mandarin, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese or German. Entrepreneurship education focuses on Student-Centred Learning strategies, strong industrial linkages and collaboration, research with high commercial values, social entrepreneurship, and the establishment of research parks and business incubators.
