Wing Deformation of a female Pantala flavescens (Fabricius, 1798) 黄蜻 (薄翅蜻蜓)

| While all newly emerged dragonflies balance their
abdomen
vertical to the ground, this female Pantala flavescens balance her
body to her left side. My first thought was she must be doing this to balance her
body weight cause by the all deformed wings. But after bringing this poor insect
back to my desk for a magnified look review a more terrible situation.
She is born not only deformed, she is also born un-free with a wing still
tied to the exuvia like a slave chained to the wall for ever.
Over the last 50 years three species of Dragonfly become extinct because of pollution and global climate change. Dragonflies exist on earth before the dinosaurs and they are still with us today. Although many of their natural habitats are threatened, natural enthusiasts are helping to preserve their homes. These beautiful creatures spend their early life in the water as nymphs, before emerging and wing their way to this green green earth. And they are like human, are subject to disease and starvation. This dragonfly here could not fly to feed. She would staff to dead. Or A bird would come and find her as a delicious snack |
This Pantala flavescens (Fabricius, 1798) had a
very hard emergence All 4 wings appear are damaged. The front left wing
gotten folded over and the one
on the right never has a chance to develop and entangled with the exuvia. The abdomen is
malformed with a segment which twists to the left.
