A teneral male Onychothemis coccinea big compound eyes and three small single-lens ocellis eyes.

A Onychothemis coccinea secondary genitalia at second segment.

Male abdomen tip.

The two cerci are black color toward the tips with standing hairs.

The spoon like epiproct is light color.


A young male Onychothemis coccinea (Lieftinck, 1953) photographed in Sabah (Eastern part of Malaysia) on 11 & 12 October 2006.

Onychothemis coccinea (Lieftinck, 1953) is a rare species so far seen only in Indonesia and Eastern part of Malaysia. This species is unique in abdomen color of entirely light orange with no marking. Under the sun it is a beautiful golden dragonfly.
