SMK BALUNG
 

1987

Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Balung was established in January 1987. The school is classified as grade school C.
 
The purpose of this school at that time was to accommodate the number of growing students eligible to enter secondary school. Existing secondary schools in Tawau Town are no longer sufficient.
 
 
Before the appointment of the first principal, a teacher Mohammad Arif bin Haji Ismail was responsible for managing the school until February 16, 1987, Mr. Jimmy Cheah was officially appointed as the first principal of SMK Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Balung
 
Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Balung commissioned by borrowing SK Balung building. A small number of comb SMK teachers had to share a house with SK Balung teachers.




1988
Two academic block and two houses for teachers were established.


1989

The first batch of students of SMK Balung achieved 76% achievement in pass
 

1990
The second group of students from SMK Balung sucessfully obtained 87% passes.
 
On 30 November 1990, school principal Mr. Jimmy Cheah left school in early retirement.


1991 ~ 1992
During this period of construction for the new SMK Balung continued. But construction slightly delayed due to change of contractors.


1992
New history of the school began as the new school building completed and now SMK Balung has its own school building.

The first group of teachers and students moved from the old building of SK Balung to the new site of SMK Balung
