Tawau Food Guide >
Kway Teow
粿條/河粉
In Tawau are many imitation Chinese cooking like imitation of Kuching style
Kolo Mee, imitation of Penang style of Char Kway Teow. But the local Chinese
enjoy as much and unable to differentiate the imitation with the authentic. As
long as they like the food, no one boarder about imitation or authentic.

The Hakka’s Ban Tiao 粄條 and the Teochew's Kuey Teow are very similar.
Kuey Teow is a Teochew's food and there are factories producing Kuey Teow in
Sabah. So the Sabah Hakka eventually adapted Teochew's Kuey Teow into their favorite and forgotten their original traditional Ban Tiao 粄條. |
