Tea impurities

Tea impurities
I have been buying and consuming great amounts of various kinds of tea both Chinese tea and imported Red Tea. Red Tea mainly from 888, Boh Tea, Lipton Tea. 888 Tea was the best for making Lemon Tea and Teh Tarik.
However for the recently years I was getting strange taste in 888 Tea. Sometime I bought a tin that test perfectly well and then when I bought another tin again with awful taste which I dislike and took almost year to finish the tin.
I decided to analyze it a little bit and find out why. I bought two tins of 888 Tea from two different supermarket in 2016 with almost the same pries. The packing is exactly the same. Except that one tin has a Thong Guan Trading white sticker and the other does not have. The purpose of this white sticker is unknown but after open up and observed careful the tea inside, the answer is clear. The tin with the white sticker is pure tea dust while the other is a tin of IMPURE tea dust.

Is this tea dust with white wood-particles normal tea for consumption?

A cup of awkward Teh Tarik by unprofessional local tea maker in Tawau :

- Long Handle Iced Tea Spoon
- Overflow (when you drink, tea drops from the cup on table and on you shirt)
- Lukewarm temperature
- Weak taste of tea
- Stick handle (from the sticky milk of the hand of the tea maker )

The long handle tea spoon is designed for Iced Drink in tall cocktail glass. But local using them for a cup of hot tea.

A cup of lemon tea

The different TEA drinks in Tawau Town and rest of Malaysia :
Teh Tarik - Tea with condensed milk, sweet
Teh C - Tea with evaporated milk
Teh Nai - Tea with condensed milk
Teh O Panas - Hot Tea without milk
Teh O Limau Panas - Hot Tea with lime (Malaysian version of Lemon Tea)
Because drinking TEA is an newly imported food culture, local people make poor taste of Tea drinks. If you want a cup of good tea in Sabah and Sarawak, be it Lemon-Tea, Teh Tarik or Teh Susu, try in a Indian and Chinese food stall. The Indian and Chinese are more fussy on drinking a cup of tasty tea.

There are still illiterate coffee shops who could not differentiate a grass and a cup.
A grass (for cold drink) are often used as a cup (for hot drink) for hot lemon tea in this part of the world.
How to hold with fingers a boiling hot cup? Well the local make tea with lurk warm water and drink lurk warm tea. Just the same way we make MILO, Holick with lurke warm water. Who said we must make tea with freshly boiled water?

Rm 5.00 expensive cup of hot lemon tea for tourists in SEMPORNA OCEAN TOURISM CENTRE
The tea is hot enough. The taste of tea is strong enough. But, like other lemon tea in Sabah, too sour with two thick slices of lemon.

This is Teh Susa (Milk Tea) not Teh Tarik
Milk tea in a local food shop is call Teh Susa
Milk tea from an Indian food shop is call Teh Tarik
The pries per cup may be the same, but Teh Tarik from an authentic Indian food shop taste much batter. This cup from a local Indonesian Soto food stall. The tea-beg used is tea from Indonesia. Cheaper. 2009-02-15 Tawau

From a popular air-conditioned restaurant in Fajar commercial area. Its a cup of hot tea but the taste of tea is too weak.
In 2008 the taste of lemon is too sour (two thick full slice of lemon of about 5mm thick. In 2010 improvement has been made in reducing 2 pieces to 1 piece.
The green plastic tea spoon is too long. In 2010 this restaurant still serve this long plastic spoon. Too ugly in style.
The cost is Rm1.80++ in 2008
