The Guitai 桂台 (Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao and Overseas) Hakka Folk Song Heritage Inheritance Seminar 客家山歌文化傳承研討會 was held in Hezhou, Guangxi. Nearly 200 people from Hakka clan and cultural representatives from Taiwan, Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao and overseas participated in the conference and sang Hakka folk songs.
Hezhou 賀州 is a major settlement of Hakka people in Guangxi, with a total of more than 600,000 people. Hakka dialect is widely spoken in this district.
It is said that most of the Hakka people here were migrated from Jiaying 嘉應
migrated, and the local Hakka dialect is still intact. It is close to Meizhou
dialect 梅州話 and communication between the two people is no problem.
