The Malayan Tiger can grow up to 2.57 - 2.84m in length, 1.22 -1.37m in height and weigh between 150- 195kg.

Beside Peninsular Malaysia, they are also found in countries like Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Southern China.

Tigers prefer a solitary life and they inhabit all kinds of forests that can supply enough preys, water and shelters.

In the wild, tigers mark territory with their urine, fasces and by scratching trees.


Females reach maturity at 3 - 4 years, and male tigers at 4 - 8 years.

The average life expectancy is between 14- 16 years.

The gestation period is about 15 weeks and 2-4 cubs are born weighing about 1kg each. Parental care usually last 18 months 2 years. The interval between births is 13- 26 months.

Tigers are strict carnivores and they have big appetites. A hungry tiger can eat over 36kg of meat at one time.

They are carnivores and the diet consists mostly of deer, wild boar and a variety of other mammals.
