Sabah State Museum
Deemed as one of the best in the region, the Sabah Museum is made up of the Main Building, Science and Technology Centre, Conservation Centre and Heritage Village. Inside the Main Building ere the Ethnography, Natural History. Ceramics, Archaeology, History and Islamic Civilization galleries. At the Heritage Village, there are 11 replicas of traditional houses of the various Indigenous people of Sabah. Among them are the Bajau house - complete with a wedding dias, Murut longhouse, which features a lansaran (trampoline), Chinese farmhouse with earthen floor, Bamboo house and House of Skulls. Also within the compound of the Sabah Museum is the Sabah Art Gallery, which has over 1,500 pieces of art work in its permanent collection in the form of paintings, carvings, sculptures and installations, mostly by local artists. Special exhibits and sales are sometimes held at the Gallery and selected venues in the city.
