SUNGAI Sibu is a small scenic river flowing through Matang in Kuching.
Telaga Air is a quaint and vibrant Malay fishing village 30km from Kuching City. After a new road completed in recent years many people began to choose Telaga Air as a destination for fishing safaris, sports fishing and half-day outing.
Fishing boats land at the public concrete jetty. Fresh fish are sold at the wet market and roadside stalls by the fishermen themselves.
Their prices are reasonable and their fish fresh off the boat. Kurau, senangin, white and black pomfrets, sea breams and sea bass are offered by the fishermen.
The prawns are fresh and popular. With prices up to RM35 per kg for thumb-sized fresh prawns, the fishermen do not have difficulties selling them.
Dried fish and salted fish packed in plastic bags and
fresh vegetables, especially chillies, are aplenty.
The many eateries offer fresh prawn noodles, mee jawa and other seafood dishes attracting many visitors from Kuching, especially in the evening.
Evening, many people come here to view the sunset and walk around. The Telaga Air esplanade is clean and a good location for sea views to watch the fishing boats sailing from the sea into Sungai Sibu Laut and the lovely setting sun.

The Telaga Air hinterland offers attractions for both local and foreign tourists. Around here are a bee farm, agriculture and mushroom farms, the Red Bridge picnic area and a special lemang house.
