Established in 2000 The Kuching State Library known as Pustaka Negeri Sarawak plays an important part in serving the information needs of 27 distinct indigenous ethnic groups that speak 45 different languages and dialects.

Grandly designed, Pustaka is a truly digital library that links smaller, regional libraries to the digital age.
 

Pustaka Negeri Sarawak (Sarawak State Library)

Pustaka Negeri Sarawak is a library conceived as a major information resource center and as the hub of information services for the public and private sectors.

It link libraries, archives and information centers elsewhere in Sarawak and throughout Malaysia.

It also provide a gateway into and from publicly accessible international information centers.

open to public on 2nd January 2000.

Pustaka Negeri Sarawak is  a beautifully designed building in an extensive park with  a collection of sophisticated  specialized services.

Pustaka Negeri Sarawak provides :

reading and IT facilities,
reference,
electronic and digital materials
provides information on the progress of Sarawak based on print and electronic media.

To ensure that the library will have enough records and reference materials on Sarawak for the future generation, the Pustaka Negeri Sarawak vision is to be the Reservoir and Fountain of Information and Knowledge for the Sarawak.

Its mission is to provide state of the art facilities for easy and real time access to information and knowledge.

Apart from that the target and objectives is to ensure all individuals in Sarawak have ready and easy access to information and knowledge through Pustaka Negeri Sarawak and to create an excellent resource center and information hub for the region.
