Miri Public Library which is just beside the Miri City Fan. This new library
opened only in 2002. Pustaka Miri, the regional digital library of Pustaka
Negeri Sarawak, is located right beside the Miri Fan City. We saw students doing
revisions there while some were surfing.
Pustaka Miri, the regional library of Pustaka Negeri Sarawak. Pustaka Miri
caters for information and research needs of the northern region of Sarawak.
This library is another 'Fountain of Knowledge' set up in line with Pustaka
Negeri Sarawak's target of ensuring all individuals within the State be given
equal opportunity to access information and acquire knowledge.
Linked to Pustaka Negeri Sarawak via Information Communication Technology (ICT)
infrastructure, Pustaka Miri is an epitome of digital library that provides a
combination of print as well as electronic and digital information resources.
Pustaka Miri is:
A research and reference centre, with collections to assist researchers
knowledge seekers;
An off site depository centre for legal deposit materials;
A centre for development of special collections relating to Miriana and other
local history initiatives;
A contributor to Pustaka Negeri Sarawak's databases on information materials on
and about Sarawak;
A place that provides education and activities to raise information literacy.
The library stocks books in Bahasa, Chinese and English. The reference section,
which is not open for children, has newspapers, mainly local ones. There is a
special Children's Infotheque with a nice selection of children's books in
English and Bahasa and a special computer suite where children can access
computer games.
Pustaka Miri's membership is open to all who are 4 years old and above. To
register online visit www.librarynet.com.my or visit the Multimedia Galeri on
the ground floor. There is a car park between the Miri Pustaka and the Miri
Public Swimming Pool.
Pustaka Miri, which is an IT library of sorts, This digital library has its
imposing architectural design. It also known as the Miri Resource Center. This
digital library was built next to the Miri City Fan Park.
