Wood-borers-Platypodidae

The elongate, slender beetles of the family Platypodidae, called pinhole borers, are small Coleoptera with club-shaped antennae. The head is as wide as or wider than the thorax and sometimes bears a tuft of short hair.

These beetles are usually brown. They dig long tunnels in wood, but only dead trees or felled logs. The larvae develop in the tunnels, and feed on fungi cultivated by the adults.
