Tawau: Tawau, a coastal town in Sabah, is expected to become a leading sporting arena with the completion of a RM69.4 million international standard sports complex in Jalan Utara, near here, by February 2005.

Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Datuk Ong Tee Keat said the complex will have facilities like a main stadium, indoor stadium, multi-purpose hall, hockey stadium, hostel, convention hall, surau and administration building.

The complex will also have a synthetic track, tennis, squash, basketball, volleyball, sepaktakraw and netball courts.

Commenting on the lack of a swimming pool in the complex, Tee Keat said it was not included in the initial plan as there were no provisions at that time.

However, the Government, in principal feels a swimming pool should be build within the complex, he said.
