Established in 1984 as an academic institution. Binary University College became the first university to specialize in Management IT and Entrepreneurship education in Malaysia in 2004. The University is unique in that it produces a new breed of graduates called "ISP graduate" or Industry Specialist Professional graduates. ISP graduates specialize by acquiring in- depth knowledge of a specific industry.

The university also has strategic alliances with world leading companies such as ING, IBM, Oracle, Sun Microsystems, Lotus and SAP to offer cutting-edge technology to its students. International students from over 35 different countries are currently pursuing various programmes at Binary including those from China, Indonesia Libya, Kenya, Maldives, Oman, Sri Lanka Tanzania, Uganda and Uzbekistan.

The Binary University College campus is in Puchong, Selangor and boasts excellent facilities that include a digital library, fully-equipped gymnasium, 250 computing workstations, video conferencing facilities, internet access, WIFI, cafeteria, a multimedia studio, a modern language lab, an auditorium and accommodation.

Students may choose to apply for an educational loan or scholarship. Loans are directly considered by the service providing financial institution. This list of financial organizations involved includes RHB Bank, Public Bank, Oriental Bank and other banks. Binary University College also offers a number of scholarships annually and this is administered by the Scholarships Department.
