31 May 2010 the Higher Education Ministry announced that INTI University College is upgrade to University status.

INTI University College is the first education institution in the country to be given approval by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia to run a degree programme in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

The Bachelor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Hons) degree programme, which combines the western and eastern curriculum, provides students with a strong foundation in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

It combines the basic, classic and professional TCM approaches to healthcare taught by TCM practitioners from Malaysia and China.

It is a four-year programme comprising 151 credit hours, spanning 10 semesters of full-time study in Malaysia and two months of internship locally followed by a five-month internship in China at the Shanghai University of Chinese Medicine or Beijing University of Chinese Medicine.

The programme will be taught in English with some basic Mandarin.

The programme also feature 1,200 hours of clinical training for greater practical exposure and has forged a strategic alliance with the Negri Sembilan Chinese Maternity Hospital and Medical Centre for student practical training.

Currently, there are three Government hospitals and two private hospitals that have dedicated Traditional and Complementary Medicine (T&CM) wings and the Government has announced it will increase the number of Government hospitals with T&CM to six.

The programme is linked with established universities in China - Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine; both recognized by Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA) and the Ministry of Health for transfer options.

INTI-UC's campus in Putra Nilai, Negeri Sembilan covers an area of 82 acres. It is an ultra-modern landscaped campus equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The campus is carefully planned to provide a learning and living environment in a sub-urban context offering a unique collegiate experience amidst cultural and international diversity. Associate Colleges are located in Selangor, Penang, Pahang, Sabah and Sarawak.

Internship enables students to understand the working environment in the private sector and it requires the student to perform tasks in the companies that they are assigned to, The employers are expected to guide the interns and at the end of the internship, assess the performance of the interns, This assessment is important because it will reveal the weakness and strengths of the interns. From there, they can then build on their strengths and overcome their weakness. INTI-UC degree programme students will spend 1 out of 7 semesters on internship.

In the 3+0 programmes, students can complete their studies on-campus at INTI, and still obtain overseas degrees. Additionally, they can select from an impressive list of prestigious universities and enroll in the British or Australian Degree Programmes, or in the American Degree Transfer Program before proceeding overseas to complete their degrees.

Students have benefited greatly from INTI-UC's emphasis on holistic education that focuses on academic achievements, leadership qualities and social responsibilities, through active participation in clubs and societies, community services and sports activities.

INTI-UC students through INTIMA (the student government body), organize numerous cultural and sporting events that enrich the social life on campus. Other student support services offered include the University Placement Office to assist students who are transferring abroad, the Student Affairs Office, Career & Counseling Centre and International Marketing Office to facilitate students' enquiries, admission and visa applications.

INTI-UC encourages an all-round educational experience, which is why INTI-UC provides extensive facilities for sports and leisure, such as a Multi-Purpose Hall, an Olympic-size swimming pool, squash courts, basketball courts, a soccer field, Student Activity rooms, a Music Room and facilities for table tennis, sepak takraw and volleyball.

Scholarships / Financial Aid

Since 1991, INTI International University College (INTI-UC) and INTI College Subang Jaya have awarded scholarships worth over RM 80 million to INTI students pursuing their degrees locally and abroad.

In 2007 alone, scholarships in the form of tuition-waivers worth over RM 2 million were awarded to 381 students.

The three main types of scholarships offered by INTI are the Achievement Scholarship, the Merit Scholarship and the Sports/ Special Talent Scholarship. Students transferring to overseas universities can also apply for scholarships awarded by INTI-UC's collaborative universities in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

• In 2006, INTI College Malaysia (ICM) received an invitation from the Ministry of Higher Education to establish a University College. In September 2006, ICM was upgraded to become INTI International University College.

• In 2005, INTI College received two awards by the Ministry of Higher Education for the highest number of accredited programmes and the highest enrolment of international students.

• In 2004, INTI College was honored with a National Creativity and Innovation Award from the Malaysia Design Technology Centre (MDTC) in recognition of its use of creativity and innovation to achieve a strong brand presence.

• In 2003, INTI College Malaysia bagged four awards from the Ministry of Education Malaysia for having the highest enrolments of local and foreign students, highest number of foreign campuses and overall excellence.

• In 2003, INTI College is the first institution of higher learning in the country to be awarded the Certificate of Appreciation for Achievement in Trade by the US Department of Commerce for its multinational cooperation via academic collaboration. •INTI College is the first International Associate College of Coventry University and the University of Hertfordshire, in the United Kingdom.

•For sports achievement, INTI College Malaysia emerged as overall champion for three consecutive years in the Malaysian Association of Private Colleges and Universities (MAPCU) Tournament since 2002.
