Swinburne’s popular engineering and business programmes are accredited by professional bodies such as the Institution of Engineers Australia, Board of Engineers Malaysia and CPA Australia. The undergraduate computing programmes are accredited by the Australian Computer Society.
A student exchange programme is

Melbourne or at one of Swinburne’s partner institutions in

Monash University Malaysia Campus
The Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education evaluated institutional
performance of all Malaysian universities via its Malaysian Qualifications
Agency (MQA) Rating System for Higher Education Institutions in Malaysia for
2009 (known as SETARA) instrument.
The 2012 results again rated MUSC - Monash University Sunway Campus
as ‘Excellent’ and no institution received a higher rating.

Sunway Campus
Monash University Malaysia was established on February 23, 1998 in Bandar Sunway
upon invitation of the Malaysian Government. Its establishment is a
joint-venture between Monash University in Australia and the Sunway Group.
As one of the eight Monash campuses, Monash Malaysia is subject to the
University for all matters related to academic development, teaching and
support. The Monash University Act, rules and regulations are observed to ensure
that the academic quality expected of Monash University are met.
Monash University Sunway Campus is a premier private university in Malaysia.
As a full oversea campus of Monash University Australia, this private higher
educational institution of Malaysia received a rating of 'excellent' in the
national SETARA assessment in 2009/10, and gained self-accrediting status in
2010.
Monash University Sunway Campus has some 5,300 students and over 650 staff.
Established in 1998, Monash University's Sunway campus was the first foreign
university campus set up at the invitation of the Malaysian Government, It's one
of eight Monash campuses in Australia, Malaysia and South Africa.
Situated in the modern township of Bandar Sunway Monash brings to the region
quality educational opportunities for students to complete degrees from a
prestigious foreign university in Malaysia.
There are approximately 3,300 students at the Sunway campus, studying
undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered through five schools. About 27%
of these are foreign students,
This year, the university moved into its own, purpose-built campus with enhanced
facilities for both teaching and research.
The combination of the prestigious degrees and Monash University's
uncompromising stand towards academic excellence and student development, make
studying at Monash University a unique experience for students in the
Asia-Pacific region.
Academic Strengths
Monash University's campus in Malaysia is one of eight operated by the
university in Australia, Malaysia and South Africa, Monash is Australia's
largest and most internationalized university. It is one of the top 40
universities around the world/ according to the Times Higher World University
Rankings 2005 and 2006, and a member of Australia's prestigious 'Group of Eight'
universities recognized for excellence in research, teaching and scholarship.
This Australian university was established in 1958 and is currently Australia's
largest university, with a student population of more than 57,000 at eight
campuses.
The education provided by Monash is driven by its motto Ancora Imparo' - "I am
still learning" - and sustained commitment to excellence in teaching and
learning.
The university's Australian graduates have a higher than average starting salary
and find full-time employment faster than the average [Graduate Careers Council
of Australia Graduate Destination Survey, 2003).
The situation is similar in Malaysia, where 80% of Monash graduates are employed
within three months of leaving university.
Students from all campuses are encouraged to spend up to two semesters at any
other campus, while paying the same fees at the host institution and without
disrupting their studies.
Through a combination of engagement with the brightest minds from around the
world and local initiatives that drive significant and lasting change, Monash
University is positioning itself to deliver solutions to some of the key
problems of the 21st century
Programme Outline
The courses offered by Monosh University are recognized by the relevant
authorities in Malaysia and Australia. These include professional bodies and
statutory organizations like the Australian Medical Council, which recently
accredited the medical course taught at Monash University's Malaysian campus.
The accreditation is a first ever for a course taught fully outside Australia
and New Zealand. It will allow graduates of the course to practice medicine in
Australia and New Zealand without additional examination requirements.
Similarly, other professional and statutory organizations have also recognized
the other relevant programmes taught at the university.
Academic Facilities and Resources
Monash University RM200 million facility located in Bandar Sunway. The new
campus is being developed in two phases over a land area of 12 acres.
Stage 1 of the new campus, which was completed in early 2007, has a built up
area of 66,133 square meters. The first phase includes the construction of six
buildings able to accommodate between 4,000 - 4/500 students and some 450 staff.
Phase 2, the university's capacity will be increased to between 8,000 to 10,000
students.
Student Services Activities
As a full fledged university, Monash University provides its students with a
full range of support services designed to facilitate their studies. These
include a Student Services Department, which provides all kinds of support to
students and organizes a number of events each year, such as an annual Career
Fair. Students also have access to two university counselors.
The Monash experience is about gaining an education and developing a holistic
lifestyle. Students in the University participate in more than 20 clubs and
organizations ranging from sports, religious, school-based, and social. These
clubs and organizations are under the purview of the Monash University Student
Association (MUSA). MUSA operates the student centre where students have access
to pool table, foosball table, a small gym, a large meeting room and a lounge.
MUSA also runs a small co-operative store that sells various items.
MUSA organizes various activities that benefit students such as charity,
orientation, seminars, etc,
Scholarships / Financial Aid
The university provides two kinds of scholarships. Entrance Scholarships and
Merit Scholarships.
