The University of Nottingham
Malaysia Campus welcomed its first students in September 2000. This development
is a fundamental part of Nottingham's vision to become a truly global university
for the 21st century and beyond. It is the first ever branch campus of a UK
University abroad, earning the University the distinction of the Queen's Award
for Enterprise in the field of international achievement, the first award of its
kind to an academic institution.
The Malaysia Campus is a full and integral part of The University of Nottingham,
UK and offers students the Nottingham experience in a Asean setting. It is a
global institution serving an international community of students and yet is
firmly rooted in all that is distinctive about UK education - innovative
teaching and assessment methods, which encourage independent, creative thinking.

Melbourne or at one of Swinburnes partner institutions in

University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC) new programme
Masters in Investment and Islamic Finance.
The course provides insights into different aspects of the Islamic financial
environment and address advanced developments in both Islamic finance and
conventional finance.
It aims to enhance students understanding of techniques particular to Islamic
and conventional finance.
A distinctive feature of the programme is the integration of the underlying
theoretical foundations of Islamic finance with their practical applications.
Upon graduating, students will also be equipped with a critical awareness of
ethical and corporate social responsibility issues in Islamic and conventional
finance.
ISLAMIC FINANCE
Islamic finance industry has witnessed phenomenal globally growth over the past
decade.
As of the first quarter of 2014, Malaysias Islamic banking assets totalled
RM527.2bil or 24.1% of the banking systems total assets which in turn accounted
for over 10% of global Islamic banking assets.
By 2014 Malaysia is home to 20 Islamic financial institutions, 10 of which are
internationally owned.
As Islamic finance becomes an increasingly important component of the global
financial system, there is a huge demand for a qualified workforce to underpin
sustainable growth within the industry.

The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus opened in September 2000 to become
the first campus of a British University in Malaysia and one of the first
anywhere in the world earning the distinction of the Queens Award for
Enterprise 2001 and the Queens Award for Industry (International Trade) 2006.
In September 2005, the Malaysia Campus moved to its new purpose-built campus at
Semenyih, 30km south of Kuala Lumpur city centre. Occupying a scenic position
overlooking green hills on a 101-acre site, and designed to mirror the
attributes of University Park in the UK, the campus is a self-contained and
self-sufficient neighborhood village in a garden environment with over 3800
students.
The Malaysia Campus confers exactly the same degrees as those in the UK and all
courses are taught in English. The University of Nottingham Malaysia offers a
wide variety of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes including;
KUALA LUMPUR: A unique pharmacy degree course in which students split their
studies between The University of Nottingham's Malaysia campus and the UK campus
in Nottingham is celebrating its first graduation.
The School of Pharmacy's innovative 2+2 programme enabled 33 students to spend
the first two years of their course at the University's campus near here,
transferring to Nottingham for their final two years of study.
This first cohort was among a total of 135 MPharm students who received their
degrees at a recent graduation ceremony.
This 2+2 Pharmacy masters course is fully accredited by the Royal Pharmaceutical
Society of Great Britain, which means that, after a pre-registration training
year, graduates may work as pharmacists in the UK and in Malaysia.
Head of the School of Pharmacy Professor Saul Tendler said: "It is an absolute
pleasure to see so many Pharmacy students graduating this year. For the students
who were our 2+2 pioneers, this is an extra special achievement.
"It is one that marks the culmination of many years of effort by colleagues both
in Nottingham and Malaysia who have been involved in setting up the programme,
and, of course, by students themselves. We wish all our students the very best
for successful careers as pharmacists, and we hope , they will keep in touch
with us in the future.55
Pioneer graduate Ruby Kassam, said: "It was an exciting opportunity to be part
of such a ground- breaking new Pharmacy course.
"I received a top quality education and the experience of a lifetime. I'm
leaving the University with some wonderful memories of the four years I spent
studying pharmacy and with a lovely memory of the final day where I received my
award at the prestigious graduation ceremony in Nottingham.
After transferring to the UK for the final two years of the course students
continue their studies of the pharmaceutical sciences and learn more about the
clinical and legal aspects of the pharmacy profession. Sold on this 2+2 concept.

The Malaysia Campus
The Malaysia Campus opened in September 2000 to become the first branch campus
of a British university in Malaysia and anywhere in the world. The Malaysia
Campus is a full and integral part of The University of Nottingham, UK and is
led by senior academic staff seconded from Nottingham, UK who ensure that the
standard of teaching is of the same high quality as its UK campuses. This means
that students receive genuine Nottingham education from day one,
Programmes at the Malaysia Campus are identical to those offered at Nottingham,
after which degree certificates from The University of Nottingham are awarded,
irrespective of whether the course was undertaken in Nottingham or Malaysia.
The Malaysia Campus offers the opportunity for an undergraduate to spend one or
both semesters of the 2nd year of study at their respective Schools in
Nottingham, (provided the same programme is also offered at the campus in
Nottingham). The Malaysia Campus also allows transfer of degree studies to
Nottingham. UK, Eligibility is subject to a minimum academic performance and
availability of places.

New Semenyih Campus
In August 2005, the Malaysia Campus moved to its new campus on a 101-acre site
close to Semenyih. 30km south of Kuala Lumpur, It is the first purpose built
campus of a British university out of the United Kingdom, The new campus, built
at a cost of RM 120 Million offers high quality learning and living environment,
Facilities include state- of-the-art networks and laboratories, an extensive
library bookshop, cafe and convenience stores, a sports complex, and a Student
Association building amongst others,
A 'Teaching Facility' has been developed in Chulan Tower on Jalan Conlay within
the Kuala Lumpur city centre from where postgraduate programmes, including
business and management, and applied psychology programmes are delivered.
Studying at the Malaysia Campus costs substantially less when compared to
studying in the UK. There are three intakes in a year, February, April and
September, with September being the main intake for the undergraduate and
postgraduate programmes,
27th of May 2009, I got done with final paper and left UNMC with a Bachelor's
Degree in Mechanical Engineering with honours. Results were released two Mondays
ago and I achieved a second upper class honours. That marked the end of my life
as a student and I'll be joining the ranks of other fresh graduates out there.
It has been three year since I joined this UK based university. I came with a
few friends from college and shared an apartment at the university
accommodation.
I remember ...... times where we laughed so hard that we only slept at 4am
simply because we were laughing so hard for the past two hours thanks to See Tho.....

Nottingham University Business School Malaysia Campus is part of Nottingham
University Business School (NUBS), which is renowned for its teaching excellence
and worldwide recognition in business research where it is ranked third in
Europe, It is also consistently ranked in the top ten in the UK. The 2006 Times
Good University, Guide ranked the School sixth out of 98 UK schools, The Higher
Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) rates it as "excellent" for

the opening of the new Semenyih campus in September 2005, the School is now

School Of Law

Faculty Of Engineering & Computer Science
Faculty Of Health & Biological Sciences
The Faculty of Health and Biological Sciences was established in 2005 following
the move to the campus in Semenyih. The first programme offered by the Faculty
is the undergraduate Masters degree in Pharmacy delivered by the School of
Pharmacy. From September 2006, the Faculty has been offering the Foundation in
Biosciences and undergraduate Honours Bachelor degree in Plant Biotechnology
delivered by the School of Biosciences and has new teaching facilities including
fully equipped Biosciences and Pharmacy laboratories, Further expansion is
planned in 2007 with the inclusion of a Master degree in Crop Biotechnology.
School of Pharmacy
Established in 1925, the School of Pharmacy has grown steadily to its current
ranking as the UK's best school of pharmacy It is not surprising that it is one
of the UK's most popular choices for undergraduate study with students from
across the world currently following the four-year MPharm degree programme.
Its teaching was graded as "excellent" during the last UK Quality Assurance
Agency audit, With a score of 23 out of a possible 24, the QAA report
highlighted the School's "high-quality teaching, well-managed approach to
assessment, and systematic development of professional skills and clearly
identified key skills through the undergraduate programme.
School of Biosciences
The University of Nottingham School of Biosciences is internationally recognized
as a leader in the provision of research and teaching in fundamental and applied
animal, plant, microbial and physical sciences important for the improvement of
agricultural and food production, food quality and safety, nutrition and
protection of the environment.
Scores of 23 out of 24 and 5A in the most recent independent teaching and
research assessments indicate the high quality of teaching and research within
