The University of Reading opened its first teaching facility in Malaysia July
2012
As one of the world‘s top 200 universities, the University of Reading has
attracted international students to its campus in the UK for more than 100 years
and has a long association with Malaysia.
Having received its first Malaysian student in 1934, the university now has more
than 1,400 alumni from Malaysia with 114 Malaysian students graduating in the
last two years in the fields of law, finance and quantity surveying.
The University of Reading is renowned for its exciting and innovative
research-led teaching, a friendly and supportive environment and an excellent
graduate employability record. Students at the Malaysia campus will
benefit from the same world-class student experience that is offered in the UK.
The opening of the new teaching facility in Johor Bahru marks an important and
very exciting step for the university.
It now offers executive education, English language and foundation courses
whilst construction of the main campus in Iskandar Malaysia Educity takes place.
The University of Reading’s Henley Business School, in association with the
International Capital Markets Association (ICMA), are providing short executive
education courses in Malaysia.
Henley Business School is one of the few business schools to hold
triple-accredited status, which places it among the top 1 per cent of global
business schools.
International Capital Markets Association (ICMA) has a reputation for providing
quality, cutting-edge education for the financial markets.
Its executive education includes high quality innovative programmes in areas
such as capital markets, corporate real estate, leadership and coaching.
The university’s English language courses are well-established and known for
their high-quality teaching.
This, along with IELTS testing at the end of each course, has secured an
outstanding reputation for the University of Reading‘s English language courses.
These courses are aimed at students looking to improve their English language
skills before embarking on a degree programme.
For those wishing to pursue a business degree, the university’s Business
Foundation programme will offer an intensive one-year access course.
The course has been designed for students without British A-level qualifications
or the equivalent who plan to do an undergraduate business degree. Successful
completion of the Business Foundation programme guarantees progression to the
University of Reading, including Henley Business School courses.
The opening of the University of Reading Malaysia’s main campus is scheduled for
2015 and it will host 2,000 students at capacity.
Undergraduate and postgraduate degrees are being planned in: built environment,
business and law, and chemistry and pharmacy. A range of new research
collaborations is also being explored with Malaysian and international partners.
The University of Reading is a global university and its Malaysia branch campus
is integral to furthering this global commitment. The university has been made
very welcome in Malaysia and looks forward to supporting the country’s ambitious
