Kingston Executive Hotel is
one of a series of new hotels opened in Tawau the last few
years. Immediately next to it at the left is the King Park
Hotel. Behind is the Kingston Hotel with the same name
"Kingston".
"Kingston" is not the only twin hotels with same name that
confused many visitors. There are three "Grace" and three
"Monaco" in Tawau and almost all are within walking distance to
each other.
There is such a joke : A Chinese booked hotel "Grace A" before
arrival, unable to pronounce the "G" with Chinese stiff tongue,
the taxi driver misheard and sent him to hotel "Grace B", the
wrong hotel staff thought she knew which hotel he wants and made
a call to the hotel to come over to pick him, hotel "Grace C"
promptly send their car to pick him up.
Kingston is not that bad, they are only two and next to each
other, incase you came to the wrong entrance, the other one is
just next block.
ROUND-ABOUT
Kingston Executive Hotel is
unique in its location. From the hotel main entrance to the
round-about is only 20 meters. The hotel owner designed it to be
build just beside a round-about. The town board also approved
the hotel to be constructed just beside the round-about.
Is there another hotel that is nearer to a round about? If no,
then Kingston Executive Hotel made it to Malaysian Records. (Or
perhaps to a world record).
But certainly, Kingston is not the only hotel that locate just
beside a round about.
North Borneo Hotel is beside a larger and busier round-about.
Their main entrance is 50 meters to an attractive round-about
constructed with a giant cement flower the red Bunga Raya. The
road Jalan Bunga is 100 meters from this round-about that bears
its icon. And Jalan Bunga, the Hotel Street, is where most
visitors stay.

Building hotels as close to
a round-about to welcome you to our town, as if this is still
not enough, Lahad Datu Airport is also build just in front a big
round-about. As soon as you step out the cabin door of your
plan, you can see this round about just 100 meters in front.
Or if you came on land from Kota Kinabalu or Sandakan, you are
bound to drive via this round-about, pass thought this mini
Lahad Datu Airport before reaching Tawau. You usually miss the
airport when passing by because this small quiet airport is
empty most of the time with no airplane in sight. Air Asia is
too big to land there. Only MAS's small twin propeller plan
comes a couple of times during the day.
Is there another airport nearer to a round-about? If no, then
Lahad Datu Airport made it to another Malaysian Record. (Or
perhaps to a world record).
NEW TOWN CENTER
Being beside a round-about
means right in the town center. Kingston Executive Hotel located
conveniently to the hotel area, baking area, computer shops
area, government offices area, boutique shopping area, and if
you come to Tawau for legal maters, the court is only 100 meters
from both Kingston Hotels.
A 24 hour convenience store is next to the hotel. Your favorite
Big Apple Restaurant is two doors away. Plenty places to eat
around the hotel within walking distance.
Not all new hotels in Tawau is book able from internet yet.
Kingston is one of them.
This is another Shop lot style hotel. This means there are rooms
with no windows. Ask for a window room when you place your
reservation. Remember, windows invite sound and still remember
that this hotel is just 50 meters away from a round-about?
