Beware the level gap on the tile
floor of Sri Indah Regional Bus Terminal
The passenger hall of Sri Indah Regional Bus Terminal come at different heights. There is a 50mm gap on floor level. Only partly lined with red tap to alert passengers.
The hall floor is higher than the adjoining boarding path. Passengers, with attention focused on the bus, often tripped and fall on arrival and departure. Though certain part is lined with red tap to bring passengers attention, but passengers focus are on the buses counters not on a 50mm gap on the floor, so often tripped and fall on arrival and departure.
All work staff in the terminal know passengers tripped and fall often. The manager also know about the hazard happen often. Yet not making any effort to protects the passengers. Yet not making any improvement to prevent future passengers from accidents.
The height difference between two hard floors is more then 50mm.
Malaysian building regulation specified height intervals of over 4 mm are considered trip hazards. This gap in this Terminal is 5 times over hazardous to the public. Yet the old department allowed the building to be approved to be passed for handling over to the local government to declare opening for public use in April 2018.
Passengers tripping are caused by the unevenness of the ground. This obstacles on the poor flooring for stepping caused falling and injury to the public.
Slipping or tripping can cause falls. Such accidents are not covered in many travel insurances. Thus an old man break his arm bone from falling caused by the poorly constructed flooring will get NO insurance covering on his medical bill.
Slips, trips and falls are the biggest class of accidents in public places such as bus terminals. Yet if a pregnant mother felled severely at Bandar Sri Indah Terminal and lost her unborn baby, no insurance policy cover over her lost of a premature life.
