Diplacodes trivialis is One of the most common species of dragonflies in Asia living at low altitudes

The males' compound eyes are light blue (photo below), chests grayish blue, with black freaks, and wings transparent. The females are yellow(photo second below), with slightly different freaks.

雄蟲 : 複眼藍色，胸部及腹部灰藍色但顏色較淺，腹末7-10節黑色，攫握器灰白色，翅膀透明。

翅膀透明，翅痣黃褐色，腹部灰藍色，第7節後半至第10節黑色。

雌蟲 : 複眼上褐下綠，胸部及腹部綠色，腹部背面中央及兩側具3條縱向的黑色條紋，尾毛灰白色。未熟雄蟲近似雌蟲，但可從腹末節的攫握器或尾毛分辨。

以點水方式產卵

體長30-32mm，本種體型較小，此為命名侏儒蜻蜓的由來。

生活於平地至低海拔山區，常見於水田、池塘及空曠的草地上活動，雌蟲以點水方式產卵。

由於生態習性與粗腰蜻蜓相近，因此常混棲在一起
