THE  SQUARE TOWER

The Square Tower on the Waterfront was built in 1879 as a fortress, unlike its wooden predecessor which was burnt down in the 1857 gold miners' rebellion. Nowadays it houses a multimedia information centre and video theatre, providing information and documentaries on Sarawak's tourist attractions.
Built in 1879 as a detention camp for prisoners, the Square Tower was later converted into a fortress. Then a dance hall of the British officers. Today it is a multimedia information centre and video theatre providing information on Sarawak's tourist attractions
