LAUNCHED in December 2006, the Hop On-Hop Off double-deck tour buses service 22 stops in Kuala Lumpur.

Operating under the KL Hop On - Hop Off City Tour, these tour buses offer you the chance to explore the city at your own pace.

You can choose to stay on through the full circuit tour (the ticket is valid for 24 hours upon purchase) or hop on and off at the destination of your fancy. It is a convenient way of seeing Kuala Lumpur.

The rout covers over 100 major hotels in Kuala Lumpur.

Pre-recorded commentaries in eight different languages - Bahasa Malaysia, English, Mandarin, Hindi, Arabic, Japanese, French and Spanish - are played in the buses as they take you through the more than 40 tourist destinations within the city.

Tickets are at RM38 per person. Group purchases (min of 5) are priced at RM32 per person. Senior citizens, students and the disabled only pay RM17 while children below five years old ride for free.

Malaysian MYKad holders only pay RM19 during promotions.

Tickets can be purchased on the bus itself, through the Internet or from agents (hotels and travel agencies). Each ticket comes with a service booklet with information and map of Kuala Lumpur.

Operating seven days a week, the service is available from 8.30am to 8.30pm daily over 30-minute intervals.

The KL Hop-on Hop-off bus is a convenient and efficient linkage between major tourist attractions in the city. Tourists can enjoy their visit without having to drive, pay tolls and park vehicles.

The bus service operates at 30-minute intervals from 8.30am to 8.00pm daily and covers a circle route that starts and end at the same point. En route, there are more than 40 tourists attractions and passengers can hop on or off at any of the 22 designated stops.

Each bus has a driver assisted by a tour assistant. The newly launched double-decker bus with air-condition comes equipped with CCTV and disabled-friendly facilities. A city guide pamphlet is given to everyone who boards the bus.

The KL Hop-on Hop-off city tour offers a pre-recorded commentary of the major sights and attractions in the city in eight languages (Malay, English, Mandarin, Hindi, Arabic, Japanese, French and German) made available by using headsets attached to the seats. The guided tour is designed for tourists to experience and understand the city activities and people of the past and present.

Tickets can be purchased on the bus, through the internet or at appointed hotels and travel agents. Each ticket valid for the day allows the holder to enjoy city sightseeing at his or her own leisure. A standard ticket for an adult is RM38 while a group of five will be charged RM160 flat (equivalent to RM32 per person). For senior citizens, students and the disabled, the ticket is priced at RM17 per person. A special ticket rate at RM19 per person is offered to MyKad holders during the school holiday season. There is no charge for children below five.

Double Decker KL Tour runs 7 days a week from 8.30am - 8.30pm daily. Ticket holders can hop-on and hop-off the bus at 22 stops. The tour stops at over 40 major attractions and over 100 hotels in Kuala Lumpur. On-board commentary is available in English and other major languages.

The Hop-On-Hop-Off City Tour service will ferry tourists to and from 42 places of interest such as Petronas Twin Towers, Kuala Lumpur City Centre and the National Monument.

The double-decker bus is equipped with headphones and passengers can listen to piped-in commentaries in eight languages about the various tourist spots.

Passengers can get on and off at any of the selected spots along the bus circuit. The buses will also stop at more than 100 hotels in the city centre.

The full-fare ticket costs RM38 and includes an information booklet and a map of Kuala Lumpur. It is valid for the whole day service between 8.30am and 8.30pm.

Group bookings of five or more will get a discount of RM5. Senior citizens, students and the disabled get a special rate of RM17 while children below five get free rides. During school holidays, adult Mykad holders need only pay RM19.


KL Hop-On-Hop-Off City Tour is operated by Elang Wah Sdn Bhd. Its managing director Syed Azhar Syed Nadzir said it has four buses right now but plans to increase the fleet to 10 if the response is good.
