Genting Highlands, dubbed City of Entertainment, is a great place for a
holiday or a weekend. Just an hour's drive from Kuala Lumpur, it is a popular
quick getaway for city folk. Genting Highlands is also popular with
Singaporeans.
There are many things to see and do up at Genting Highlands - for both adults
and children alike.
For starters, at an elevation about 1,860 m, it is a great escape from the
sweltering heat of the city. Genting Highlands enjoys a spring-like climate,
with temperatures no higher than 25°C and rarely falling below 14°C yearly. The
temperature in Genting Highlands ranges from 16°C to 24°C all year round.
However, it is advisable to have along warm clothing especially for young
children and the elderly as it can be cold at night.
The First World Hotel holds the Guinness World of Records as the largest hotel
in the world since 2006, with a total of 6,118 rooms.
Visitors to Gentings will be spoilt for choice where food is concerned as a wide
variety of food is available - local, Asian, western, as well as fast-food.
Gentings is a place that never sleeps as it is teeming with activities including
a safari, bars and lounges, karaoke joints, concerts, not forgetting the casino.
The resort has three theme parks - :
1) Genting Outdoor Theme Park,
2) First World Indoor Theme Park and
3) Water Park.
There are over 20 signature attractions including Flying Coaster, Genting Sky
Venture, Haunted House, Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum, SnowWorld, and Space
Shot.
First World Plaza have venues for many international acts (including Kitaro,
Andy Lau, Aaron Kwok, George Benson, Air Supply, Black Eyed Peas to name a few)
and award ceremonies.
Genting Highlands serves as the finish point of a stage in the Tour de Langkawi
cycling race. It is one of the longest (30 km) climbs featured in a cycling
event.
