Bajau Dancers in Tawau Cultural Festival 24-25 March 2007
| The Bajau couple dressed in the traditional Bajau costumes with the woman wearing the gold ornate sarimpak headpiece, circle about each other with the woman coming to rest in a seated position while the man standing behind her. This dance is characterized by graceful rotating wrist movements of both male and female dancers. The music accompanying the dance used instruments including a kulintangan which is a set of nine small kettle gongs and three hanging gongs and two double-headed drums called gandang. This Bajau dance is performed during weddings and other social and cultural occasions such as the Annual Cultural Carnival in Tawau. |
