This spider is found on a tree resting in silken cells under loose tree bark.  Spiders in this genus generally look rather sturdy and are not very colorful, often brownish.

This Genus of Spiders occur in Asia, Africa and parts of Europe, with E. amabilis and E. hoyi found only in the USA. E. proszynskii is found from Russia to Japan and Canada to USA.


 

This female is about 5 mm. The body has a deep black color. They live in dry meadows and forests.

 

This well known and widespread genus are stocky, dull brown coloured spiders, often associated with shortish plants in damp areas. The cephalothorax is thick, the top fairly flat with the rear of the thorax and the sides very steep.

Evarcha is widely distributed throughout the Holarctic. There are a few species from our area and the Moluccas, with single species recorded from S. America, Africa and Australia.

The carapace is a broad oval, longer than wide and truncated at the rear.

The abdomen is oval, slightly pointed near the spinnerets.  

This Evarcha Species are found in silken cells under loosen tree bark in an open forest.

They are not colourful and are sturdy, solid-looking spiders.
