AirAsia is celebrating its 4th anniversary in spectacular fashion. For the first time since its inception in Dec 2001, AirAsia will embark on a no holds barred regional marketing campaign to give away a whopping 2,000,000 seats for FREE.

These 2,000,000 free seats are available for all domestic and regional flights departing from AirAsia's four hubs in Kuala Lumpur, Senai (Johor), Bangkok (Thailand) and Jakarta (Indonesia). AirAsia was ranked top in the highly influential aviation industry magazine Aviation Week’s “Top-Performing Airlines 2012” report.

The leading Asian low-cost carrier said in a statement that it even beat out other longer-established and renowned airlines such as Singapore Airlines and Ryanair, Europe’s largest low-cost carrier.
AirAsia was also ranked highest in the US$250 million-US$2 billion (RM787.1 million-RM6.3 billion) annual revenue category.

This award is based on a statistical analysis of an airline’s financial and operational performance. AirAsia emerged top overall with 81 points, Ryanair received 78 and SIA came in at 70 points.

The award is also a triumph for Malaysia and Asean. AirAsia is firmly placing Malaysia on the global aviation map.

AirAsia flies to Guangzhou

AirAsia is commenced direct daily flights to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport(China’s third largest international airport) from the KL-LCC Terminal beginning 16 January 2008.

It is anticipated that this move will see more young people from the Pearl River Delta area to visit Malaysia and potentially other countries in the ASEAN network.

Guangzhou will be AirAsia's fourth destination in China after Shenzhen, Macau and Xiamen.

Guangzhou being a global manufacturing centre, there is a robust demand for this route with AA low fares route network.

Travellers could connect to more than 100 major cities in China via Baiyun airport. AirAsia also attract young Chinese from the Pearl Delta region to visit Malaysia and the Asean region.

AirAsia operates four direct flights to Shenzhen as a group, with two daily flights from Kuala Lumpur, and a daily flight each from Bangkok and Kota Kinabalu.

AA also operates four daily flights to Macau from Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok, as well as a daily flight each from Johor Bahru and Kota Kinabalu. There are thrice-weekly flights from Kuching

AirAsia to become the largest A320 airline operator in the world

AirAsia has placed the largest order of a total of 225 A320s, making it the biggest operator for the aircraft in the world. The latest contract for an additional 25 A320s together with a further 25 A320s on option, brings AirAsia Group's (Malaysia AirAsia, Thai AirAsia and Indonesia AirAsia) total orders to 175 firm orders and 50 purchase options.

The A320 family, which includes the A318, A319, A320 and A321, is recognized as the benchmark single-aisle aircraft family. Each aircraft features fly by wire controls and all share unique cockpit commonality across the range.

Budget airlines have become a travel phenomenon in the Asian region. But they are well known for delays and luggage limited to 15-20 kilograms

To get the cheapest airfare, you have to book early with Air Asia. If you book late, the airfare will be higher, but it will still be cheap.

The cabin crew are friendly, helpful, attentive and efficient. While you are not allowed to bring your own food, the snacks are good and the prices are OK.

Check-in staff are strict with baggage and carry-on luggage. The check-in baggage allowance is 15kg. and the carry-on luggage allowance is 7kg. If you go over these limits, you have to pay for them.

Seats are comfortable. It is free-seating, so boarding can be a bit chaotic.

Air Aisa flights are free seating, and luggage is limited to 15kg per person.

Airplanes most used by Air Asia is the Airbus 320, new and comfortable with leather seats.

Getting to LCCT

A direct way to get to LCCT from Kuala Lumpur is to take the SKYBUS shuttle service. SKYBUS operates a bus shuttle service between KL Sentral and the LCCT. The pick-up point is at the Lower Ground Floor KL Sentral, and the bus drop off passengers at the LCCT Bus Station. The first trip at KL Sentral is at 3.30am and at the LCCT is 7.15am. The last trip at KL Sentral is at 7.30pm and at LCCT is at 12.30am. Frequency is every 15 - 30 minutes.

The fare is RM9 one way.

Other ways is to take the Komuter train to the KTM Station in Nilai and then take a bus to the LCCT. The fare from KL Sentral to Nilai Komuter Station is RM4.70 and the fare to LCCT is RM2.00 one way.

Or you can travel to KLIA and then take the feeder bus to the LCCT. The LCCT terminal connects with the Main Terminal Building with a green-coded NadiKLIA bus for RM1.20. A future transit rail connecting both buildings is under consideration.

Getting to KLIA

From KL Sentral, the ERL KLIA Express and KLIA Transit depart to Salak Tinggi Station and KLIA respective, and from there, Feeder Bus is available to the LCCT.

Once the railway track between KLIA main terminal and LCCT is completed, traveling time will be reduced from the current 20 minutes by bus to 11 minutes by rail.

Fares for the KLIA Transit to Salak Tinggi Station is RM12.50 for adult and RM6.00 for children. ERL Transit Salak Tinggi Station to LCCT fare is RM1.50 one way.

Fares for the KLIA Express to KLIA is RM35.00 for adult and RM15.00 for children. From there, you will have to take the feeder bus to LCCT.

There are also AIRPORT COACH from Hentian Duta to KLIA. Fare is RM20 one way. The first trip is 5.00am and the last trip is 12.30am. Frequency is every 45 minutes. From KLIA, you will have to take the feeder bus to the LCCT.
