College is standing proudly with its more than two decades of
continuous achievements. KBU International College (KBU) is a private college established in 1990 by the First Nationwide Group, owner and developer of the 1000 acres fully integrated township of Bandar Utama. KBU has a purpose-designed campus with up-to-date equipment and recreational facilities, all located on a 13-acre site within Bandar Utama. Students at KBU will therefore experience and benefit from a very conducive campus environment for study an obtain a holistic education. Academic Strengths The majority of programmes conducted at KBU have been awarded the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) Status All the UK degree programmes are fully- franchised from foreign universities (100% foreign partners' syllabi) The Pre-University programme (AUSMAT); all Foundation Certificate programmes; as well as four UK 3+0 degree programmes are fully-accredited by LAN ( Lembaga Akreditasi Negara). (a) Department of Engineering
KBU is currently the first and only private college to receive the accreditation from Lembaga Akreditasi Negara (LAN) for two Engineering programmes. The Department of Engineering offers programmes in collaboration with Nottingham Trent University (NTU), UK; Sheffield Hallam University, UK; University of South Australia (UniSA), Australia; and Mannheim University of Applied Sciences, Germany Students who have obtained their SPM/GCE '0' Level or equivalent qualifications can pursue the 3- semester Foundation Certificate in Engineering, Science & Technology programme, Upon successful completion, students can advance to the following programmes:
BEng (Hons) Electrical & Electronic
Engineering (3+0) BEng Electrical & Mechatronic Engineering (3+1) Students with Pre-University qualifications such as STPM, GCE A-Levels, AUSMAT or equivalent and who have fulfilled the entry requirements may enter directly into the degree programmes at KBU. The Electrical & Electronic Engineering degree programme covers aspects of electrical, electronic and communications engineering. The BSc (Hons) Computer & Network Engineering, on the other hand, links various types of software, hardware, protocols and standards used to allow computers to communicate and the need for different skills. The School also conducts the UK BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical/ Electronic Engineering, It provides a firm grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required to meet the needs of the industry, or for further studies. The School also offers the BSc (Hons) Business Information Systems in collaboration with Sheffield Hallam University (SHU), UK. The programme integrates sound business knowledge with an awareness of information technology necessary for modern business. It stresses the social and organizational factors which need to be considered for the successful use of information technology in a business environment, The BTEC HND Multimedia covers the development and use of electronic media in the entertainment, commercial, financial, and other sectors, providing student with knowledge in software, hardware, networking, programming, web site management and multimedia. |

> School of Design The School of Design offers programmes conducted in collaboration with NTU. It conducts the Foundation Certificate in Art & Design for students with SPM, GCE '0' Level, STPM, GCE A' Level, UEC or equivalent qualifications. The 3-semester programme provides a general art & design education that enables students to gain experience in practical studio work and equip them for degree programmes. After the Foundation programme, students who have fulfilled the entry requirements may proceed to the following degree programmes: BA (Hons) Graphic Design (3+0) BA (Hons) Interior Architecture & Design (3+0) The BA (Hons) Graphic Design programme helps students to develop a wide range of skills and trains them to become adaptable and versatile designers who can face up to the exciting challenges. The BA (Hons) Interior Architecture & Design students will be exposed to form, space, order, color, material, structure, proportion, sense of creativity and appreciation of 3-dimensional design in interior spaces. It is the first and only UK interior architecture & design degree programme to be accredited by LAN.

> Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT) The Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT) is a 10-month Pre-University programme, admitting students with the Malaysian SPM, GCE '0' level or equivalent qualification. It consists of 50% external examination and 50% coursework. This qualification is recognized by most universities around the world for its degree programmes. |

> GCEA-Levels The A-Levels offered at KBU is awarded by the London Examinations/Edexcel International, UK. The London Examinations GCEs taken overseas are exactly the same as the examinations in the UK, so candidates are awarded the same certificate at the same standard, wherever they are in the world. The examination body has been recognized for the high quality of its examinations and assessments, KBU offers the option of science and arts-based subjects to give students a wider choice of disciplines to pursue at undergraduate levels. Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT) Your Passport to Prestigious Universities Worldwide Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT) is a popular pre-university programme of The Curriculum Council, Government of Western Australia. The Curriculum Council is responsible for the development and accreditation of courses of study for post-compulsory schooling and for the assessment and certification of student achievement. AUSMAT is a 10-month course with the assessment comprising 50% course work and 50% external examination, which is the Tertiary Entrance Examinations (TEE). It is recognised by most universities around the world, especially Australia, as the entry requirements to degree courses in universities. Thus, students who have successfully completed the AUSMAT programme are also eligible to apply for entry to the UK diploma and Honours degree courses conducted at KBU International College (KBU). KBU has excellent facilities and experienced lecturers to teach the AUSMAT programme. Chinese, Malay and German languages are available as optional subjects at the college. Diploma in Interior Design The field of Interior Design is multifaceted and involves many disciplines of thoughts, actions and reactions. (ChrisYap, President, Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers, 2004) We live in the 21st century, an age where knowledge and information and computers pose great challenges for everyone to compete, learn and improve their standards of living. Corporations and consumers have become more sophisticated in their tastes and the changing perception of lifestyles. This scenario has great impact on the profession of Interior Design. Many would argue that their roles not only encompass filling in spaces with nifty colours and materials, but also the need to satisfy basic human needs how the space responds psychologically and emotionally to the user and vice versa. All these require a comprehension of our sensorial needs and what it takes to elicit a response through the senses, critical as well as creative thinking. In addressing this additional responsibility, the new wave of Interior Designers would have a better understanding of a buildings structure and its mechanics, knowledge and technical know-how within the bigger picture of the design process which incorporates a variety of disciplines ranging from psychology, sociology, history, management to business practices. The School of Design at KBU International College can assist students to turn this dream into reality. To prepare students for the new challenges, the Diploma in Interior Design programme includes very challenging and stimulating learning subjects such as Interior Design, Architectural Graphics, Building Material Studies, Building Studies, Temporary Structure Design, Project Management, Design History, Visual Culture, Creative Studies, Photography and Digital Imaging, Design Communication, Professional Practice, Furniture Design as well as various computer applications and software.
